"Trust me," Ulric says with the faintest hint of a smile.
OOC: Would Ulric toss a fireball down a narrow corridor? Hmmmm. Nah. He's waiting to use it to decimate the army of hobgoblins that is bound to be waiting for us at the front door of this crypt once we're all half dead and starving.

As Ulric moves forward, he keeps a watchful eye out for writing or symbols on the floor, walls, ceiling, and statues.
"Mind where you walk," he says. "If it's strange, don't step on it."

Or to hand him a lit torch.
He draws his blade and stands ready to the side of the left door.
Wibert "the shadow" pops out of the passage with a lit torch to assist
Guntrum. "May I be of help friend", he offers reflecting a little light then usual with his new armour. Wibert will keep a short sword in one hand and a torch in the other, and keep a eye out especially above and behind for any movement.

Very well.
Olaf moves cautiously into the cold chamber, ever cautious of where he puts his feet, thus allowing Dieter and Highbough space to enter the vault behind him. All three can almost see their breath condensing in the air before them, and Highbough's lantern flame seems subdued.
Before he goes as far as the door on his left, Olaf note a great, straight edged "crack" in the floor. He pauses just as Ulric mutters something about not stepping on anything strange.
This "crack" is strange indeed. It seems to run a perimeter about a yard around the first of the lower terraces...

Dieter makes his way half way down the wall angling away to his right, but does not disturb anything... unexpected.

As Highbough comes into the vault he begins by examining the walls adjacent to the entry... (d6) but these seem both solid and cold enough.

Meanwhile, back in the anti-chamber,
Guntram's concern about the fading light (as
Ulric and
Highbough both take their lanterns down the left passage) is alleviated as
Wibert strikes a spark to tallow, and after striking the flint and steel several times, ignites a torch.
Wibert's voice, and the guttering of his torch, seem strangely loud in the cold, dark place...

Josiane, Dorgan, Guntram and Wibert are in the anti-chamber.
The former pair are keeping an eye on the black passageways ahead and to the left, while the latter pair sort out a torch. The remainder of the company are down the right-hand passage...
All is still (and cold). For now.
