Getting lost is one of the hazards of dungeoneering...
Olaf and
Victor are in a stinking chamber approximately two dozen feet wide and three or four times as long. At either end is a door.
Down the left hand side of the chamber (facing the way the Wolf has just gone) are a series of crude wooden walls about 3ft high. These divide half the room in to a series of eight or so stalls which are littered with soiled hay and mud. A few of the stalls have chunks of rotten carcass and bones in them, and the whole place has a strong stink of animals.
Apparently this place was a stable for the Ogres' wargs.
From what
Olaf can see the only options are to follow the Wolf onward, or to turn back to the intersection which led into this room.

"Okay, let's follow the Wolf." Olaf says, somewhat uncertainly, "What we need to find are stairs leading up...I think."
IAC, Olaf will move forward as quickly and quietly as he can.

Olaf leads on... his masterwork lantern still burning ever brightly.
The passage leads into a grubby passage way... there are numerous broken and missing flag-stones, and sufficient mud to cover some stones entirely.
Soon enough the pair reach something on a Y intersection. The passage they are in seems to lead on, but from the left a second, similar way veers off at a 120 degree angle.
---
...Olaf has that tingling sensation on his skin that you get when you are a pair of 1st and 2nd level fighting-Men with 3 and 4 hp alone on the 3rd dungeon level...

OOC: Yeah, and Olaf is desperately trying to find a way to go UP to the 2nd and then 1st level, but his mean old DM won't let him find a way.
Olaf holds the lantern up and opens all four sides and looks at the flame, does it seem to blow in either direction, or does Olaf feel any sort of breeze coming from either direction?
If there is a breeze, Olaf will head toward it. If there is not, Olaf will lead Victor straight ahead.

Olaf stands in the intersection and uncovers the shutters of his beautifully made lantern, and now the passage way immediately appears both brighter and warmer.
He stands for a moment watching the little flame as it ever so slowly burns through its supply of magefire oil. There is perhaps the faintest flickering, indicating a vague movement of air from the passage ahead.
With that, he decides to continue ahead, and singles so to Victor with a movement of his head.
The pair march onward.
But withing an few score paces both Men get the feeling that the passage they have chosen is beginning to veer left, and also to slant slightly downward...

"Let's continue on. Maybe it will lead up soon." Olaf says and picks up the pace a little, because he is worrying that both the lantern *and* the scepter are going to lose juice soon, and dark means death in here.

Hmmm, as far as I recall,
Olaf has left the enchanted scepter and most of his gear and loot behind a long while back when he had to carry
Victor. He hasn't been back for it since.
On the upside, the magefire oil is renowned for burning long and bright. The lantern has a good long while of light in it yet, and
Olaf has a refill remaining in the beautiful flask.

OOC: I didn't know I'd left the scepter behind...if I had to to carry Victor, okay, but that was one thing (along with my sword) I did want to bring along.

We'll assume that Olaf had the scepter stuffed under his belt all this while.
