It's my fault for not being clear or specific enough. I intended for Desmond to go to the spot where he knew the first trap was, assuming that spot was relatively safer than anyplace else for the plundering of coin. But maybe then someone else would have been the trigger man...
Don't take it too hard, Ehiker. In reality: poor timing -- everyone else had a few goes at clarifying their posts while you were away a day or two. In game: the curse of the second noggin! Mondes sure is a greedy, surly, contrary, rude trouble magnet.

It's all fun

I'm a two-headed halfling in one game and a by'aki Jale man hybrid in another. I can roll with the punches.

Errr... Oh, right! I mean, I blame it on Mondes! After all, I only have control over Desmond/Mondes MOST of the time. I suspect MONDES had a hand in their greedy grab for the gold.

Or do you want to hold out for Wibert's possible resurrection?
I really miss playing, but I realllly don't want to start at 1st level again if I don't have to and besides I like Wibert the thief.

I will wait and ask for Wibert's to be resurrected by you all please.....

Well, firstly there is the question of recovering the body. Then secondly there is the question of funding his resurrection.

Neither of these two seem assured, but you are welcome to hold out. We'll see what happens.

Guntrum (or another of the non-combatants) can take Highbough's lantern to light our escape.
