Armando examines the burned bits near the edge of the nook, assuming it to be charred as a result of whatever dire conflagration invested the interior of the building. He then carefully slips aside, at the point of his dagger, the velvet cloth concealing the object within the niche.

Inside...

Armando has to catch his breath as he pulls the velvet cloth aside with his stiletto. Within is housed an object of beauty... and worth, no doubt. It appears to be a pearl of great size, only the surface has a glassy glamour, while the interior is a hazy grey cloud bespeckled with tiny motes and flashes of coloured light that slowly turns, ever evolving. The sphere is stood upon a silver snake fashioned in the likeness of an Enigma of Thuul.

It must be the find of Armando's career to date, surely!

Armando pulls his dagger away, letting the velvet again droop over the treasure. He then snatches it up, velvet, pearl and base, and with a self-satisfied smile quietly slips the entire bundle into the empty sack depending beneath his cloak ...

Quiet, yes ... hmm. Just a moment ago the chamber seemed filled with the whir and clank of the hellish automaton. Armando now notes no such telltale clamor. Perhaps the golem bides its time, awaiting a newly animated target? Armando casts a glance toward any intact windows or shards of glass visible from his current shelter behind the altar, hoping by the reflection of its evil cycloptic eye to identify the guardian's orientation.

Armando bags the treasure; noting that it is heavier than he anticipated. It must be solid!

From the fractured reflections he is able to make out, Armando surmises that the guardian must either be growing shorter or be receding as it moves away from him. It is apparently looking the other way...

What's happening outside?

Ulric, Olaf, and Rufus are near the abbey entry.

Torban and Guntram (who's is just rousing from his slumber) are across the courtyard by the base of the bell tower.

OOC: Sorry, I thought that the five of us were together and was waiting for an answer to my previous question to Guntram.

"Wait, it may not be coming," Ulric says. "With it's great size we should hear and feel its footsteps."

"I have an idea," Ulric says to Olaf and Rufus. "Let's get over to Torben and Guntram."

Uric hurries over to the two warriors.

"Guntram, are you awake? What did you do to make yourself into a giant? I saw you eat something. Do you have more? Can you make Olaf and Torben into giants so we can face this thing?"

OOC: I thought we were on the other side of the bridge as opposed to near the base of the bell tower. Though, I haven't seen a map lately so I can't be too clear as to the distances involved.

Torben sets Guntram down. "I don't think he's all there," Torben proffers. He looks at Ulric and the others, before taking stock of the surrounding environs to check if they're being observed.

It's all getting a bit confusing.

Let's assume that everyone (Ulric, Torban, Olaf, Guntram and Rufus) is together, outside the abbey, on the far side of the bridge. There is no immediate threat from within.

Guntram is normal sized, has roused from his slumber, and can act normally.

Ulric was asking Guntram about his magic-beans, and speculating about re-entering via the broken windows at the back of the abbey.
