Olaf boldly leads the way to his right, where the passage passes between two of the graven stone Knights of Old, and becomes immediately narrower.

Dieter is forced to follow his comrade; then comes Highbough with his lantern, while the others are either in the anti-chamber, or still upon the entry stair.

By the jangling orange light, Olaf finds the way, conscious as he goes of a vague, distant moaning sound ahead, and a genuine chill upon the air. It is some 30 or 40ft before the narrow, in-leading stone passage opens into a broader, triangular chamber whose grim stones are once more decorated in bass relief with carvings of cruel knights from ages past. Toward the apex of the room, 40ft away from the entry, Olaf can see that the floor begins to descend in terraces, and right at the limit of the light he can scarce make out an inky hole in the ground from whence a moan of air seems to come. Beyond that hole, the chamber seems to fall away into even deeper darkness, and to either side of it there stands an iron bound wooden portal...

Ulric moves forward with the column ready to provide what support he can.
"Ulric, remember *we* burn, too!", Olaf says without turning his head, "Be careful where you cast your fiery spells."

Olaf moves, very cautiously, to his right out into the wider chamber so Dieter and the others can get in. He is careful of the floor and the ceiling.

"Come ahead, but be careful and quiet." he says, "There is a wider room here and what looks like a big hole in the floor up ahead at the limit of my vision."

Olaf is far enough into the room for the others to enter and spread out a bit. I figure we will need to "explore" this room a bit before proceeding...even if we don't have to fight anything right now(and we may still have to real soon:) ).

Dieter will move along the diagonal wall, so that if there's something lurking in the dark, it will happen to him first. (but he hopes to happen to it even before that...)

If he hasn't already done so, Guntrum descends the initial stair and reinforces Josiane. He is unsure of the position of the light sources and would encourage any in this half of the party to either follow the rest or for one of our light bearers to remain behind in the room of the 4 knights. Or to hand him a lit torch.

He draws his blade and stands ready to the side of the left door.
