Dieter is getting a bit angry that the thing keeps picking on Josiane. If possible he'll try to time his attack for when the elemental is occupied with its own attack. (Or just hit it, frankly.)

Highbough looks to Josiane with grudging respect mixed with a twinge of concern. He notes the so-called "Saint's" bravery but senses she cannot withstand another such blow, and then who would be the party's healer? The old warrior-Elf moves to protect her and perhaps goad the elemental's attack in Helmut's direction. If he can blink the sand out of his eyes then he will attempt a good thrust with his spear.

As Helmut and (to her considerable surprise and gratitude) Highbough interpose themselves between her and the monster, the battered Josiane takes the opportunity to fall back, spitting blood and sand from her mouth. She will tend her wounds as best she can, standing ready to return to the fray should the need arise.
Ouch!! Hope no-one minds if my girl takes a bit of a breather! She's attempting to fall back, defending as she does so. Should the elemental be in the position to target her again she stands ready to sacrifice shield and/or helm to absorb the damage.

At least she got a good blow in. Hopefully it's starting to weaken...

I wonder if the sword blessed by the spell would remain blessed if transferred to another?? The elemental is hit only by magical weapons. Being heroic has no affect on it.
Wen would quickly aid Josiane's retreat to safety.

"Desmond, what do you make of those spikes? Can any be wrested free? What are they made of? If indeed they held this creature captive, they may provide a clue to defeat it!"

Olaf will continue to attack, eventually, he might actually hit the thing!

Hoping this causes the elemental to flee and not assault him in anger, Desmond snatches up the ovoid and dashes back out into the open and attempts to use it as a Ward to drive the elemental away, such as the Saint might drive off the undead with her holy symbol.

"You are free, wind spirit! Return to your home," Desmond and Mondes both shout at as loud a volume as their lungs can muster, holding the cracked object out at the elemental.

Armando thinks back a few days — and remembers the portentous gold ring recovered from the Shadow Pit. He can't quite recall the inscription, but it had something to do with the four elements. Now who was wearing the ring — was it Ulric ... ?

will change my post later this morning when I have a few minutes; size of ovoid is a bit too large for Desmond.

Desmond reaches into the ovoid to see if he can remove any of the spikes.
