Meanwhile, in the fountain chamber...
Initiative is rolled (Anwyn 1d6=2(+1), Taines 1d6=4(-1), The Foe 1d6=3, Victor 1d6=1)
Anwyn reflexively fires off her ready arrow and her aim is immacculate (1d20=20!) but despite her precision the arrow passes entirely through the liquid horror without pause, inflicting (2dd=4, 1) just 1 hit point -- and by some stoke of blessed fortune the deadly missile flies between the onrushing Taines and Victor without harming either and shatters on the stone arch of the doorway.
Taines charges to the fountain with his trusty axe raised high and attempts to severe the tentacle whence it rises from the water. His swing is mighty and true (1d20=18) but his weapon seems to pass uncannily through the watery terror with little resistance causing (2dd=5,4) just 3 hit-points damage.
As Taines strikes, the horrible tentacle seeks again for Anwyn (1d20=7) but again she leaps clear of danger just as the powerful slap of water would have engulfed her -- the legendary quickness of the Elves seems well deserved!
Victor charges in behind Taines and likewise attacks the trunk of the creature at the fountain, swinging his spiked morning-star over his head as he rushes it (1d20=18) and connecting with a profound splash! His weapon too passes right through the fiendish creature causing (2dd=4, 2) just 2 hit-points of damage.
Ulric follows Victor into the room, and sets his back to the wall to the right of the entrance.
Mads follows Ulric and reaches the doorway from where he surveys the awful sight...
Gentlemen, your intentions for next round please.
