Kiplyn picks a handy stone and shows he is ready. "Wait, what's the plan if we do find this thing?"
added: He tries to set his torch somewhere close by so his hand is free to throw the rock and of course defend himself.

Willie's cheerful round face settles into grim determination, and he blows out a sigh between the gaps in his teeth -- gaps created by the Goat-Thing. His eyes are alight with uncharacteristic anger.
"We pummel it till it stops stalking us!"

While the others think about lobbing rocks Tet notices his torch is nearly spent and get another one fired up.

Our heroes fire a volley of stones into the darkness. Dame Simonetta hears her shot connect with a thud, and then a scurrying sound racing along the cavern ceiling toward the northwest (in the direction of the crevasse).
Attack rolls (including -4 blind fighting penalty)
Willie 2
Dougal 3
Dame Simonetta 14 hit for 1d6 = 1hp
Noh 3
Kiplyn 3

"There!" Dougal cries out, pointing up at the site where the sound came from. "Again," he says, throwing another stone.

"Kill it! Kill it!" screams Willie, while he looses another volley, taking aim as best he can in the dark.

"No let us capture it and maybe find out more about it!" Noh says, loosing a stone nonetheless.

Dame Simonetta slings another stone in the direction she heard the creature scurry off, trying to hit it again.

Our heroes fire off another volley of sling stones, a few of which are halfway-decent shots. But there is no further sound of the spider-goat. You suspect it might have retreated to the crevasse area. As an ambush predator, it would not be its style to charge into missile fire.
The latest gamma version of the rules for Hobbets states, "every two shots loosed count as three," which I interpret to mean they get 2 shots every 2nd round, for a 3:2 rate of fire.
Attack rolls;
Dougal 1, 2
Willie 13, 12
Noh 1, 11
Dame Simonetta 1, 4
Kiplyn 1, 15
Tet 1, 1

Dougal eyes the northwest passage and says, "That leads to a crevice... we need to kill this thing if we can or he'll harass us until we're all dead."
Dougal gets all of his bad rolls out of the way early on...
