Dougal heads south, assuming Willie heads that way with his light...

Willie pauses for a moment to admire the skill and bravery of the chasm-crossing chalk artists, and considers going back for a piece of chalk, but then notices Dougal getting ready to press ahead.

Making a mental note to come back, he proceeds south with lantern held high.

Turn 9 continued

The tunnel continues 50' in a southeasterly direction and then terminates in a door-shaped section of wall that is smoother than the surrounding stone.

Willie boldly tries the next rule at this door:

"NO SPOILERS for new members of the Club."

Potty follows the crew, keeping a sharp eye out for rare mushrooms and occasionally stopping to sweep the ground with his glass.

Turn 10

Willie unlocks the door by speaking the 4th Rule.

To the south there is a tunnel that leads at least 30' south into the shadows. It is wide enough for a party of Hobbets to travel two abreast.

To the west there is an open, high-ceilinged area bordered by a chasm to the north. Like the puffball room, this area is dripping with moisture.

Potty sees that the damp cavern to the west is occasionally dotted with small patches of translucent, snot-like jelly fungus. As Potty studies the ground with his glass, he sees a faint trail of blood spots leading west into the shadowy unknown.

Important Notice

I am ruling that Turn 8 (in which our Heroes played with colored chalk) qualified as "restful" and therefore no additional rest turn shall be necessary this hour.

When Potty points out the blood spots coming from the west, Dougal nods in that direction and says,"We should go that way. Find out what happened to the rest of that party we met up in Frederick's dining area..."

Dougal is a good tracker. By studying the blood splots and muddy footprints, he reckons five healthy hobbets marched to the west, and then a while later, two bloodied hobbets returned in a hurry. One set of footprints has traces of ash and soot mixed with the blood.

Assuming Dougal relays the tracking info, Willie remarks:

"There could be other hobbets down there still! Shall we follow them and see what we can find?"
