Caine reveals the large, crimson gem-stone which he pried from the demonesque statue's eye on the second level of the dunjon (forfeits the +50% XP bonus he would have got for the gem by keeping it secret) -- it is a precious find indeed.

But trading gems for coin may not be the best course, for the party is already burdened with as much coin as it can carry, and a gem certainly weighs far less than another bag full of coin.

Caine will hang on to the gem for a while then. he wants to make sure he is pulling his weight in this group

"Thank you," Mads says to Alfred. "Ket's changed a lot as of late, but it's nice to know there are still some good people about. I'll spread the word on my future travels--hope your business fairs well."

Mads will take some time to wrap up the head of his axe and hopefully make himself appear to be less of a threat to the locals. After he's situated, he'll head out on the town looking for Conrad--hopefully his prices are honest.

If need be, Mads will take the long way 'round town if he comes across anyone threatening, and if he sees the rest of the group, he'll follow at a distance without drawing attention to himself, while keeping an eye out for anyone following them.
