Very well.
Dieter and Olaf stand watch as Ulric puts down his lantern and extracts a sack from his backpack as he issues his instructions to the others. Then Ulric and Highbough collect up the spilled coins from the floor.
Meanwhile, Josiane moves toward the far end of the vault to examine the piles of bones between the sarcophagi there, with Dorgan guarding her back.
Gustave simultaneously moves to examine several of the sarcophagi more closely.
Desmond/Mondes has less patience (between them), however, and starts filling his backpack with what he believes to be gold coins from one of the nearest boxes.
"Get tha gold!" says Mondes greedily...

Desmond/Mondes kneels before the nearest box of gold, his two-pair of eyes wide with the lust of it, opens his pack and tries to up-end the box of glamorous coin into it...
But alas! No sooner does he shift the coin box than there comes a resounding THUD!
(roll for surprise 1d6=1; Thus the players are not surprised)
Which has everyone present jump in alarm, and turn about to see that (1d6) several of the heavy sarcophagi lids have dropped vertically half a foot to crash into the ground, and are now about to topple perilously into the vault...
...three of them crash upon the ground with an almighty clatter, making the entire vault tremble and stirring a billowing bank of dust... and three fell fiends step out of their graves will a dire malice burning in their eyes!
Tall figures they are, with desperately thin, white limbs all robes in tattered black cloaks. They immediately draw forth sinuous blue-white blades and hisssss their hatred at the living things they see. Combat will be joined in scarce moments!
(mud map coming...)

Gustave steps back to permit the two fiends plenty of room in their annihilation of Desmond/Mondes.
Gustave's blade is out of its sheath even before the fiends claw their way from their tombs, but he is hesitant to attack - something definitively negative about their aura stays his hand. He will strike to defend the foolish hobbit if necessary, but hopes for help in the form of something other than steel from his comrades.

With a muffled curse, Dieter will engage the one across the stairs from him (the centermost one). He was standing watch, so his sword is already out. He'll draw a dagger for his off hand, since he has no shield.

Satisfied his prediction has come to pass, Highbough calmly sets his lantern down on the nearest sarcophagus.
He joins Gustave in engaging the nearest Fiend, jabbing it with the Ire Spear. If he can use the spear's reach to attack safely from behind the brawny fighter (sorry) he bravely does so.

"Fall back on Guntram, and thence to the exit!" Josiane says to Dorgan, trying hard to keep her voice calm as the dire situation unfolds; "Make ready to use the fallen coffins to raise the stone!"
She raises her symbol of Thuul and calls upon the power of her White Lady in an attempt to resurrect the Sacrosanct Soliloquy...
If it works, she'll fall back slowly.
If it doesn't, she'll fall back a heck of a lot faster...

Desmond grabs his axe and scrambles north over the coins to put distance between him and the fiends, then he turns and prepares for the inevitable attack.

"Halflings," Ulric mutters as he rise quickly from the floor.
Scanning the scene, Ulric looks to see if he has a clear line of sight on any of the fiends. If he does he will unleash the full power of the Anthracite Sufferance at one of them.
"Holy water," he shouts to the others. "Who has holy water?"
OOC: I think Ulric has a clear view of the fiend nearest him (next to Gustave) but he'll hold in favor of risking incinerating any of his comrades.
