Franklin's first priority is to help Wiglaff reach safety. Franklin doesn't weigh very much, so if anyone has to go down the rope to rescue Wiglaff, it should be him.

Once Wiglaff is safe, then Franklin has 3 flasks of oil he can contribute to the effort.

OK, a slightly more detailed plan would be great

Let's repeat what we did previously:

Plan? Lower Wiglaff down with a bunch of oil flasks. He'll toss them down and cover the floor (hopefully get some directly on the ooze/slime/jelly/pudding as well), and then toss a torch. Pull him up swiftly, and we wait till the smoke stops pouring up the chute before we go down and check on whether the thing is fried.

Yiu use the rest of the flasks, and the black pudding is finally burned up

Wiglaff coughs and tries to wave smoke away from his face. "Well done, friends! What a nuisance -- let's proceed as planned. Send down Ivar & Sigmund after me."

He'll descend to the bottom of the rope once more, and take a very good look around the room. Then he'll cast hold portal on one of the doors.

Then, according to the plan:
Next comes Grampus, who can hammer the safety spikes into the chute wall on his way down. Then send the hirelings down to add some muscle at the bottom, and then the rest of the party. Rhod and Aldbane can descend last, as they are quite tough and can best withstand any attacks that take place while they are isolated on level 1.
Sorry, I lost track of this thread completely. :?

The party is finally, safely, at the bottom

I assuming we have also completed the rigamarole with the spikes and rope ladder in the chute as planned.

Have we checked this room for loot yet? If not, Maloof will set that as his first task.

@acodispo: Which door was the Hold Portal spell cast on, the north door or the east door?
@Makofan: Can the caster of Hold Portal open and close the door at will, or is the spell broken when the door is opened?

If the former, we should open both of the doors and (if they both seem to lead 'somewhere') spike the non-enspelled door shut and then proceed out through the enspelled door.
If the latter, we should simply proceed out the non-enspelled door.

There is no loot left in the room
My ruling of Hold Portal is - once door is opened, Hold Portal is broken. I will rule that caster can open his own held portal at no effort, but does break his spell

Franklin releases Sconces from the snugli and lets the dog sniff around.

Franklin will use his racial listening ability at each door, starting with the northern door.

Behind the first door, you hear two people talking, although you cannot make out the conversation

Franklin gives his friends the fingers-to-lips 'shhh' sign and points to the door. He steps back, letting the stronger door-opening types take over.
