"They call themselves that? Truly?" says Josiane with genuine surprise; "The only ones I have heard to use the term since I arrived in Ket are Men or their kin. My apologies if I have cast judgement unfairly. I find the use of derogatory names... distasteful."

"But I see you mean no malice," she says to Olaf, flashing that pretty smile again; "And you show perhaps more wisdom in the matter than I have. So be it; let us ask Bennug when we return. That should clarify matters."

She returns her watch to the empty land below.

Ulric hurries out of the barn shuffling his feet and rubbing his eyes as though he overslept making his way to the road and along the trail of his comrades.

As good fortune has it, Ulric has only gone 20 paces before Rufus arrives... before he can even enter the barn he sees the daunting bulk of Dieter in the doorway.

So there he is, a half-starved hobbit, standing between two of the most dangerous men in Ket; even he has heard of Ogre Slayer and Firestarter.

His knees tremble somewhat... (no doubt because he is so hungry).

What now?
