Re: (079) What a Gnome Knows

Akbar aims his crossbow at the goblin serf, but can't get a safe shot between Zax and Wetzel, both advancing on the unsuspecting creature. The goblin ceases his muttering with a surprised "Eek!" momentarily before Zax greets him with a glancing blow of his ice pick. The goblin drops his armload of torches with a yelp and a clatter as he is knocked backward into the corridor wall. Wetzel has already moved into an ideal flanking position.
Zax uses his surprise segment to attack: 1 # d20 + 1 → [18], so hits. 1 # d6 → [2], so 2 hp damage. The ref dices for some Goblin hp; 1 # d6 - 1 → [3], so not slain. The ref decides the goblin drops his bundle without dicing.

Here end the surprise segment. Play will proceed in combat turns from here... your orders?

Re: (079) What a Gnome Knows

Zax, annoyed at the need to have to swing his ice-pick twice to finish off a mere greenskin, does so nonetheless.

Hissing slightly through his teeth -- whether this curious behaviour has any meaning, who can say? -- Wetzel joins in with Zax in an attempt to finish this lone foe as swiftly as possible, attacking with his spear.

If there is room to do so, The Herald attacks the goblin. If there is not room, he watches the rear of the party to make sure no one approaches them unawares.

Somewhere dark and out of sight...

Gerhard rouses himself miserably. Oh, he recalls. He is still confined to a tiny dark cell. And his headache--courtesy of a goblin sap to his poor noggin-- seems unrelenting. Wait; that racket is not in his head--it must be outside his head; outside this cell. Something is afoot!

Poor Gerhard, trying to recover his memories, creeps to the cell door and listens.

There is an iron cover over a tiny barred window/hatch in the door. Gerhard has peeked out oft-times by sliding the cover aside... doing so once again, he observes right in front of his door...

Re: (079) What a Gnome Knows

Zax and Wetzel close on the hapless goblin and finish its life with the bloody crunch. They've hardy broken a sweat."Bulugga Nung!" extort goblin voices from way down the sunlit end of the passage. Glancing into the glare, our brave fellows see that the two guards by the entrance seem to be a bit agitated about something...
Combat turn 1

No missile or magic phase.

The players have the initiative due to the reach of their weapons.

Zax d20 + 1 → 17
Wetzel d20 + 1 → 18

The Goblin has but 1 hp, so it is all over.

What now?

Re: (079) What a Gnome Knows

Karl moves up behind the rest of the party, so he'll be close when we get to the rest of the goblins.

He keeps an eye out behind the party, too.

Re: (079) What a Gnome Knows

The Herald says, Hey, Zax. Want to do something fun? Let's stack those torches in your arms and walk toward the guards. They won't be able to see it's you in the dark until it's too late. Then you throw the torches at them and we crush their skulls. You in?
