The bowman should be where he can get off shots without shooting Dieter or Olaf in the back. Not questioning Gundum's ability with his bow, but both of us have taken "friendly fire" before. Maybe he should move up to front rank for now and drop back if we get into melee?
If he doesn't then Olaf will switch to bow for now and switch back to sword for melee.

Josiane would frown at that mention of 'betters' if she heard it.
However, as one of
Guntrum's 'equals' she would think
Olaf's counsel wise...

Exactly right. With his other hand he uses his spear as a walking-stick.

The stair into the Gottfried crypt is surprisingly deep, and the air soon grows unreasonably chill as Olaf and Dieter descend with Highbough's lantern casting long, jaunty shadows before them.
At the bottom of some score or more steps the fighting Men arrive at an octagonal anti-chamber. Highbough remains two steps above so that he can cast his lantern light about the chilly space.
All are immediately confronted by four great stone guardians, graven into the walls in bass-relief. They loom over the 20ft wide chamber, standing at least 10ft high, and reaching to the ceiling. The stone knights are positioned on 4ft tall plinths and are of a menacing aspect as they lean inward over the chamber with their fearsome swords and axes. Between them, the adventurers see narrow, dark naves that escape to the left and to the right, and directly ahead is a passage almost 10ft wide that also ventures into inky darkness...

Meanwhile, back at the tomb entry, Guntram and Dorgan have the gargoyle mechanism figured. Pulling the gargoyle-lever down outside causes a cylinder of stone beneath it to rise about 3 or 4 inches; just enough so that the door bar is freed from a stone clasp, allowing it to slide normally. An alternate stone lever performs the same function on the inside! Perhaps the family visit their ancestors occasionally?

"Excellent!" says Josiane, smiling at Dorgan and Guntrum; "Well done, friends! Now we have secured a means of leaving, let us join the others."
She looks out, savouring the fading light of the afternoon.
"Loathe though I am to suggest it, I think it best we close this door behind us. Let us advertise our presence here no more than we already have."
