The portcullis is all a mess, but there doesn't look to be a space through it. However, Dieter could attempt to bend the portcullis bars to create a gap big enough to wriggle through...

Or, could he not employ The Ring of Gambado to leap over the gate wall...?

Really hoping to keep that one a secret from the hobbos...

Dieter will attempt to bend the bars of the portcullis to get out there and slay some sleeping hobgoblins.

Ulric, Gustave, Victor and Pelenwin look on in amazement as the bars slowly creak apart, inch by inch, as Dieter strains mightily, and at last gives a bestial raw as he pushes himself to the utter limit!

Two bars have each yielded some 4 or 5 inches in opposite directions, leaving a gap rough 1ft wide -- just large enough for a Man to squeeze through with some effort.

Indeed, Highbough's wisdom pays off almost immediately, for once the hobgoblins have retreated beyond bowshot, they flee no farther.

Instead, they turn about, and under harsh commands of their Captain they set their shields into a make-shift wall in the earth and then take up watch from behind its protection.

One of the wolf-riders takes specific instructions from his Captain before bolting off into the canyon-lands at great speed...
