If this is indeed the case, there is a need for some haste.

Who will be in party number 1?
Who will be in party number 2?
Who will remain behind with the mule and cart?

I think you have it right, and Olaf will be with group 1 as well to face the trailing knaves face on. Olaf has his bow out and is hoping to get in a shot or two before the combat closes to hand to hand.

Some wear helms, others carry small wooden shields. Hand axes and maces hang at their belts, but for now you note that many of them carry short bows, which they hasten to draw arrows to even though they appear to be beyond practical bowshot...
