I thought I'd bring this conversation over here from the PC Generation thread...

Fauns are still a PC race in my house rules booklet, but I didn't include them in this game since they didn't appear in the original B2. As it turns out, this game hasn't yet gone anywhere near the cave riddled Hinterlands that I had originally planned to run! But never fear, there is opportunity yet ;D

Hu? I always thought the whole area was the Hinterlands...I wonder how I've been off on that an entire years. Now I'm curious what's actually there. Interesting.

If you go waaaaaaaaaay back and take a look at the Hinterlands area map http://odd74.proboards.com/index.cgi?ac ... ge=4#46931here, you can see all the crags and caves in the top right corner of the map.

Ket is the town slightly left of front and center.

Thus far the company has explored the little ruin by the road side (directly to the right of Ket), and is currently off at the nearby bridge (directly to the left of Ket).

Interesting times, eh?

True. I just thought the entirety of the map was the "Hinterlands." Funny how those things happen

The whole area is up for grabs, and it's all part of The Hinterlands setting.

I had been thinking of those hills and caves in the top right of the map as the Hinterlands proper, but so long as people are enjoying the game it doesn't really matter too much. Besides, it's been fun for me flesh out some of the side tracks.

In all I'm pretty happy with how it's going so far, even if "The Deep" remains unseen...

The problem, really, is that we are still a weak...and poor...party. I think we've been operating under the thinking that we need to stay pretty close to a city where we can rest, recover, and most importantly level up. The only city we know if Ket, so we go left from Ket and return, we go right from Ket and return, etc.

At this point, however, Olaf is disparing of ever making out of this dang dungeon alive anyway. Hey, that's one way of getting back to Ket in a hurry, huh?

I think at this point it may be worth idly mentioning the curious statement that appears in Underworld and Wilderness adventures, page 12...

"Burning oil will deter many monsters from continuing pursuit."

By the ponytail of Gygax! Olaf must have been a horrible person in his other life, he surely sucks at not having bad bad luck.
