"We have enemy behind!" Josiane gasps out, throwing her pack to the floor and rummaging in it hastily to find oil and holy water; "a fell creature of a kind I have not seen before, although it is unquestionably Undead."
She places the various flasks into her belt and sets her shield on her arm.
"Guntrum and Dorgan hold the stair, but I fear they will not withstand the coming of such a foe, valiant though they be. We must - "
And then she finally takes in the scene before her.
"What has happened? Where are Wibert and Sir Pelenwin?"
Finally the penny drops.
"Thuul save us!"
She scurries to the half-open door, drops to one knee and uses her torch to try and illuminate the room beyond, crouching down to see what can be seen (although she is careful not to put any limbs or her head or any other part of her under the monstrous stone door, least it drop again and squash her flat).

Olaf grunts as he strains to hold the door up, "Is there anything solid you can put under this door to keep it up?"
"Can you see them?" he asks Jos as she looks under the door, "Are they there? Come out, Pel...Wibert...hurry!"

Gustave joins Josiane on the cold floor, looking not into the dark chamber beyond, but instead up, at the mechanics of the stone door. Is there a keystone or other mechanism by which it may be held? Alternatively, would Dieter's crowbar serve as a suitable jam to hold it fast if inserted into the tracks?

After Josiane and Gustave rush by him, Ulric moves through the ashes of the fallen dead toward the landing overlooking the pit.
"Two still missing," he says to himself.
Shining his lantern into the pit Ulric calls down to Guntram and Dorgan.
"Up here you two. It's best to hold the high ground. I heard talk of an enemy behind us. What manner of enemy is it?"

Dorgan looks at Guntrum, looks back up at the dark stairs, shrugs, and begins to climb the other set of stairs to meet up with the main group.
"It ain't a vampeer, but that don't make it any less scary!"

Guntrum follows hard upon the heels of Dorgan. "Never seen nor heard o' the like, but it speaks, unlike these walking corpses. 'See me at your peril', it hissed as much as spoke. Tall and wan it was, and it spread a terrible chill. We saw but the one; either m'Lady's chant held it at bay, or it chose not to close on our band in the tight corridor. But one was one too many! It will be plotting something nasty for us back by the entrance, I reckon."

The Second Vault
(Olaf, Dieter, Desmond/Mondes, Josiane, Gustave)
(The vault is illuminated by Olaf's scepter, and also Josine's torch).
Gustave and Josiane note with distaste the score of charred and burned corpses that litter the otherwise chill chamber, and can only image what might have taken place here earlier...
But time is pressing. Olaf and Dieter are straining mightily to lift a heavy stone door across the chamber, and both quickly move into position to peer under.
Josiane peers under to door by her torch light, and sees another, cold, dark vault beyond. There are a number of bulky, standing stone pillars that seem to near form a passage into the dark... and... are those boxes of gold coins between the pillars? One of the nearer boxes -- not 20ft into the room -- appears spilled across the floor...
Gustave, meanwhile, reckons he could jam Dieter's crowbar (a 30in long steel bar) into the stone runner on one side of the door to prevent it from closing.... if the stout bar will hold the door's weight.

Desmond quickly scans the room to see if a stone statue or sarcophagus lid might better serve to block the door open.

"Try it!"
Dieter gasps. "If I live, I can buy another!"
"And if I die, of course," he thinks, "we'll be together into the afterlife. Can't lose, really."

Gustave retrieves the crowbar and jams it with characteristic flair and gusto into the runner of the stone door, where the block is currently being held (just) by Dieter and Olaf. After giving it a brief wriggle to confirm its fastness, he steps clear, lifting his hands for emphasis.
"Right then you are gentlemen", he says, eying the quivering chink of stone suspiciously, "I would stand clear with some haste were I you..."
