Dorgan will examine the fireplace in the dining room (assuming there's no fire currently burning) and see if it has a secret door similar to the one in the ballroom.
If so, he will attempt to open it but will not enter.
If not, he'll have a look around for Gustave and see if he wants to grab a drink nearby and play some cards... Dorgan thinks he's got enough copper for a beer or three.

Gustave is loathe to abandon Sister Margarette (just in case his assistance is required of course...) but will join
Dorgan in either adventure with appropriate gusto.

Dorgan strides down to the disused ball room. It is notably cooler down the south end of the manse, and the afternoon is getting on toward dusk.
The ballroom seems big and empty, and peaceful too, with all the commotion going on down the other end of the house. The Dwarf pokes around the cold fireplace some, casting a stone mason's eye over the old, gothic thing. Having seen the secret mechanism on the fireplace opposite, and glimpsed the subterranean works below, it doesn't take
Dorgan long to figure out there is a second secret door at the back of the huge fireplace.
He smiles privately to himself as his fingers run along the familiar cracks above the little secret portal.
"Would Sir like a fire lit?" asks Bennug, all of a sudden standing in the doorway.
Dorgan near jumps out of his skin, but composes himself before he shows and sign of surprise. Good thing he hadn't tried the door yet. The Goblin butler waits attentively, his beady eyes sharp as any Dwarf's in dim light...

As
Olaf is presently indisposed, I will assume only that
Dieter organises a replacement helm, shield, and a flask of lantern oil for
Olaf (total 46sp).
Anti-venom is not readily available... it could possibly be bought from an alchemist, but one would first have to locate an alchemist.

Lantern oil (1 sp) is fuel for lanterns; it burns only very slowly.
Firewater oil (12 sp) burns ferociously; even when floating on water.
The former is good for illumination. The later is good for setting fires in great haste.
As
Ulric himself is studying his spells for an hour or so, I will assume that
Ruprecht the Goblin house servant scurries off to town for him and returns with one flask of each (13 sp).

Very good; these sorceries are duly committed to memory.

Right then.
Highbough has been off at the concourse library all afternoon, and doesn't return until after dark.
The others have been shopping, eating, resting and discussing plans, but finally everyone settles into their rooms for the night.
The vitual of the Holy Absolution continues long into the night, behind closed doors.
Please proceed to thread 041.

Dorgan turns to face the goblin butler with a look of dismay on his face.
"Bah! I wouldn't need help buildin' a fire, ya daft little..." The dwarf lets his voice fade out.
"Guess ya don't know much about buildin' things, but take it from me, ya can learn a lot from the stonework of a place."
Dorgan brushes the ash off his hands, steps out of the giant fireplace, and approaches Bennug.
"'Course, you can also learn a lot just by askin' someone who knows. How 'bout you, butler? What do ya know 'bout this place? Or the people such that was here afore us?"

Bennug pauses a moment, ensuring that
Dorgan notices the butler maintains a completely diplomatic visage despite the lingering suspicion in his eyes.
"I am sure Sir," the title is a polite nothing when a Goblin addresses a Dwarf,
"can appreciate, it would not be etiquette to discuss a former employer's business. In any case, my staff and I were only assigned to the premises when Sir assumed residency."
Bennug bows curtly, and returns to his duties...
