Desmond's eyes go wide as the creature slashes his chest with his clawed hands.

"Help!" he cries, as he stabs at the one he's already wounded.

"Well done Boris!" Ulric shouts to the hired warrior. "Press the attack!"

Ulric reloads his sling and tries to find a target among the creatures attacking Desmond, as long as he can do so safely.

"Ha haa!" taunts Gustave, fending away the ragged claw with a deft turn of his blade.

"You fence with The Gustave now!", he continues, striking at the beast with words and steel (though in truth the former seems to have more impact on Gustave himself than the beast).

Mads the Fair

Mads lets loose a howl "Away, beast!" and swings his ax in a wide arc to clear away some room between himself and his fiery opponents.

The wounded Highbough heeds Pelenwin's call and moves to Mads' aid. He fights defensively (forgoing his attack for improved AC) because he knows cutting into the creature is suicide. The best he can hope is to distract it and possibly get it to waste an attack.

The melee has closed up to a tight affair of blade, claw and fang. Any shooting would be risky.
