"Olaf get out your rope, if so both of you tie it to me and I will hold my breath and go in and drag one of them out", quickly says Wibert. "If I fail pull me out with the rope".
He puts down this short bow and gets ready to run in holding his breath to pull Desmond out.
"Andaros can you do the same next for Gustave", asks Wibert.
"Come on tie that rope to me... let me go in", says Wibert.
Once tied up Wibert will go in quickly holding his breath to pull Desmond out.
OOC: As long as we have a rope he will do this.

Olaf will comply with Wibert's call for the rope as fast as he can...coughing, gagging and spitting all the while.
"That is nasty stuff." The warrior gets out, "Deep breath before you try entering Wibert, maybe you'll be able to hold your breath long enough to get to them."

KOCH thinks to himself No way am I entering that death trap. I just escaped this place by the skin of my teeth, I WILL NOT die here.
"I have a rope as well. Andaros, I can pull you and Gustave back!"

"Great Koch give me the second rope and I will tie it around Desmond and get out of there. Then you all can pull Desmond out first and hopefully not me also", says Wibert ready to go with the second rope in hand.

Koch the Hale (16 con) and Andaros (17 con) are tough as old boots... are they not?
Mind you, Wibert is no softy himself (15 con)...

(I'll run Andaros for a moment)
Olaf, still half blinded, ties his rope about Wibert's stout waist, while Koch does the same with Andaros.
The scepter still shines brightly in the passage, while somewhere in the foggy room a vague glow that must have been Desmond's torch is vaguely visible. Or could that be the spotlight?
Whatever it is, Andaros and Wibert each take a deep breath, and then boldly plunge into the foul mist in search of their fellows. Almost immediately their eyes are assaulted by the scorching stuff, and visibility is reduced dramatically. They can hardly see a thing!
Andaros searches about hastily, more by feel than anything else... his eyes are almost completely closed with tears streaming down his cheeks. He bumps into a table, a few chairs, broken bottles still hissing with the foul gas, and then (1d6=5) at last he blunders into a body. Even with his mighty constitution, he knows his breath is nearly spent. He grabs the body then croaks "Pull!" as loudly as he can spare the breath for.
Wibert follows suit, now wondering what the hell he was thinking? The fumes are burning his eyes, nose and mouth and he can't hardly see -- but bundles on toward the foggy light (1d6=6!). Miraculously he makes it to the sputtering torch, and right away sees Desmond lying right there. He grabs a good hold of him and gives the rope a tug. Hopefully that will do it, cos he's all out o' breath.
Olaf and Koch haul the ropes back hard. By the weight of them it seems they might have got something... and within half a minute they have reeled in their quarry.
Wibert and Andaros are both breathless, spitting and spluttering when they emerge, but Gustave and Desmond are worse off. Both are motionless... unconscious or dead? Hard to tell.
From somewhere beyond the misty parlour comes a faint echo of... laughter? Then the thump of a door closing, and the sound is gone.

Olaf takes his water skin and pours clean water on, first Desmond's, and then Gustave's face. He gives each a slap on the cheek and pushes on their chests trying to get them to wake and expel some of the foul gases they have swallowed.
If he can get either to show signs of life, he'll raise them up into a seated position, pound on their backs to help them expel more of the foul gas, and try to get some clean water down their throats.

"
We are not alone, we were luckly this time... can someone light a torch!", says Wibert between breaths.
Wibert will try pushing their chest to expel air, and them blowing clean air into their lungs to help them if they do not wake.

After Wibert takes over care for Desmond and Gustave, Olaf will step back and raise the scepter again, lighting the scene, "No, we aren't alone, and I would feel much better if the whole party was together rather than split like it is."
