I believe Josiane still has one torch.

So does Josiane.

She is trying her best to follow on, but is trying to maintain the Sacrosanct Soliloquy while so-doing. How much success is she having at this, Ways, please?

She is still watching behind for any sight or sound of pursuit.

Over here Josiane, Guntrum and Dorgan are at the top of the narrow stair... not yet committed to either joining the others or facing whatever it is that lurks in the darkness behind them.

Concentrating on maintaining her mantra, can walk steadily forward at half pace. Josiane is presently at the top of the stair. However, descending a stair at the same time would be a feat of concentration. Doing so backward, or while looking behind would be a difficult check (would require a roll 6).

After the slaughter is done, Olaf sits himself down for a short breather, fishing his water flask out of his pack to douse the nasty scratch that was dealt him. The others are making noises toward rescuing Pelenwin and Wibert once more...

Just as the company are getting their breath, two of the six corpses that were recently put to the sword twitch back into their impossible un-life, and begin hauling themselves awkwardly off the ground once more! Will these things never die??

What now?

While there are still zombies with a trace of Unlife in them, Josiane continues her psalm.

Once they've (finally) been dealt with she'll try a new tactic...

En-route to the trapped comrades, Gustave notes a-stirring in the corpses on the floor - Ah! it seems Olaf still needs some practice in his sword play! Gustave is incensed! His blade leaps from its sheath and is whipped toward the foes before they can attain their rotted feet.

"Good Dorgan, you go before the Lady and I'll watch the rear. That way, you both can descend facing forwards.". Guntrum will then descend facing down the stairs, but stopping and turning every few steps or seconds to watch the rear.

Dieter makes his way as far along the passage as he can, in the direction Pelenwin and Wibert went.

"Did they go through here?" he asks, indicating the now closed door. He gets out his crowbar.

Desmond nods, "Ay, they did. The door dropped down from above. It looks to weigh a few tons. We couldn't find any way of opening it on this side. And then..." he pauses. "Then we heard a horrible shrieking sound that didn't sound like it was human... We haven't heard anything since."

Desmond leans his forehead against the stone door, as if he might open it by willpower alone...

"I fear the worst."

Back at the end of the passage Olaf rests, starts to rise when the zombies do, then finishes his rest when they are dispatched again. He won't rest long, as he wants to find the missing pair and leave this place.

"When we come back here we need to be better prepared. " Olaf says grumbling, "This was supposed to be a scouting mission. Not an all out assault."
