Willie is keeping half an eye on the new-comers to the Club, just in case they get in trouble with the chest. When he sees the skeleton pop out of the chest he hefts Chegs' Warhammer and rushes in to help with the melee -- he doesn't want anybody to get squeezed by skeleton hands on their first adventure!

Skeleton Battle
Robur and Bilfur strike the skeleton simultaneously. Robur's cudgel knocks off the skull, while Bilfur's magic staff breaks the spine.
When Bilfur hits, the staff squirms in his hands! It briefly turns into a 'real' snake and bites the skeleton! (But, the snake bite doesn't seem to have any additional effect, beyond the damage from the staff-strike.) When the snake turns back into a staff, it is a slightly different shape and size than before. It seems to be molding itself to fit its wielder.
By the time Willie arrives to help, the skeleton is nothing but dust. The rookies did a great job!
There is no treasure inside the chest. The skeleton's dagger looks pretty nice!
Robur 1d20=11, hit for 3hp
Bilfur 1d20=13, hit for 3hp and uses up 1 staff charge
Skeletons are immune to poison.

Bilfur stares with disbelief and then smiles at his new friend. Bilfur says, " my new snake friend here will be Leroy jones, the fastest snake in the burrow."

"Whew! Say, what's your name again, Wilber? Oh,... yes Bilfur," says Robur. "Sorry, I'm not the greatest at remember names when I first meet people. Since I'm the newest here, why don't you take the dagger. Oh, well, since you got a new pet, maybe I'll take it."
Robur reaches for the dagger.

Beppo climbed out from behind the chest, shivering and wide-eyed. "S-so...the undead are r-real...?"

"Ha! You should have been here yesterday*, there were a baker's dozen." Dame Simonetta comments to Beppo.
*Or if not yesterday, whatever the day was of our previous delve.

"Well done, guys! Scary stuff down here, but you get used to it," says Willie, though not without a somewhat haunted look in his eyes.
"Let's head south and see what we see!"
Assuming both ways seem equally interested (or not), Willie votes south then south-east (left).

Beppo tried to get a hold of himself. *ahem* "Yes, well...I knew the undead were real. I just...wanted to observe how best to fight them..."
And then he went back to following the others.

Dame Simonetta leads the way southwards.
