Maloof stays back in the hall near the door keeping watch (invisibly) while the others fool around with the coffins.

I am willing to say you have excess silver pieces lying around
Aldbane will carefully place a pile of silver coins on each coffin lid before leaving.

Naillus will counter, "Ok, I am not the most devout person and I don't claim to speak for any deity, but regular silver pieces? At the very least they would need to be blessed, possibly arranged in a holy symbol, maybe consecrated? Aldbane was able to force them to retreat, for which I will give a suitable donation to his God, but, and I am hoping I am not being sacrilegious here, I just don't think silver pieces will do it.
If we want to continue onward, I am with you, but my advice is to retreat, get proper equipment so this nest does not increase in size."

"Soldra the Just has shown me no ritual for blessing silver in this fashion - but I don't think these creatures emerge from their slumber unless disturbed, so I suggest we write a warning on the door for any future visitors," Aldbane says.
| Obviously meta-gaming here, but some undead are affected by ordinary silver weapons, there is no mention of the silver being somehow blessed or consecrated in OD&D/DD. |

(OOC: Yeah, I am aware, I was trying to roleplay an elf who has no concept of how Clerical magic or abilities work. I hope I did not offend.)

No worries, no offense taken!

Some silver coins are put on each lid, then you check the door to the west. A sort corridor goes 10', then expands into a 50' square room. There is a door on the north wall, in the 40' section, a door in the west wall 20' from the top, and at the very bottom of the west wall looks to be a corridor going west. There is a trapdoor nearby to the south, but there are also three large beetles, maybe 6-8' long, that eye you hungrily and start towards you

Let's quickly retreat back out the doorway (if we're not already all outside the door). That way they either have to come at us one at a time, or alternatively we can close the door to trap them on the inside.
But what does everyone think though? Fight, or close the door?
Maloof slips on his Ring of Invisibility and moves to the side.

| I'm more inclined to close the door and move on - but whatever the group decides is fine. |

"close the door and move on. Beetles probably don't have treasure," Naillus will quickly offer.
