"Goodness," murmurs Josiane as she takes in the grandeur of her new accomodations. Truth to tell, she feels a little out of place here and this talk of 'servants' makes her rather uncomfortable, although she is sensible enough to keep her opinions to herself.

She will be more than happy to settle into one of the smaller rooms on the first floor (say Room # 12 if no-one else wants it?) and will go promptly in search of a linen cupboard if there are beds needing to be made.

She has studied The Sacrosanct Solliloquy during her morning devotions.

Dieter will take room #14. With that western exposure, he'll be able to enjoy some lovely sunsets (he hopes). Plus he won't have that pesky morning sun waking him up too early...

Does that room come with a balcony, at all?

Olaf doesn't really care which room he takes. Given the option he'll take one of the rooms on the 2nd floor (one up from ground floor), but if they are already occupied he'll move up to the top floor and take one of the rooms up there....let's say 15.

He'll drop his gear there and if there isn't a bed he'll lay out his bedroll on the floor.

After that he goes back down to the lower floors to chat with others and see what is going on.

Let's call room 8 the "washroom".

It has a big old, wood fired copper boiler than can be used to heat water, and three decent sized brass wash tubs. There is also a large "vanity" with three copper basins. There are also tall mirrors, and towel racks and so on.

There is a covered sluice chute in one corner where one can empty a chamber pot. Most of the bedrooms do contain a dusty china chamberpot.

Yes, indeed. All of the rooms on the top floor have balconies, with folding french doors to access them. They will be very nice indeed, come summer.

Anyway, he takes some time to thoroughly examine the walls and floor of Room #10 before trying to determine what furniture might be available elsewhere in the house to put in it.

He is excited to have a room to call his own, having spent most of the last few months traveling the country and, more recently, running for his life through dungeons.
Desmond is thrilled with room 10; even Mondes is dutifully impressed.

Though it might be "small" compared to other rooms in the manse, it is relatively "enormous" compared to the accommodations Desmond/Mondes has recently been sharing at the Plough and Furrow.

The ceiling must be 10 of 12 feet overhead, giving the room a very spacious air. There are generous windows on two sides, overlooking pleasant gardens, and these can be opened if desired (they are in need of a good clean, however).

The floor is polished timber boards, and the walls are plastered and painted lace-white. There are exposed broad timber beams in the ceiling, and a small fireplace to the left of the door.

The only furniture present is a dusty chamber pot, but Desmond has a feeling he could "make do" with this.

Even Mondes smiles.

The library walls are composed entirely of empty timber book shelves. There is dust upon them, but not a book, scroll or ledger in sight.

Ulric can imagine filling them, however.
