By good fortune, Gustave finds that he and company are in the cellar.

And lo! There are Albert's wine stocks... bless the fellow, he looks to have some score or so dozen bottles of various shapes and label. Much of it looks to be the local produce, which Gustave has not yet found to be too disagreeable. Although, look here; half a dozen bottles of that simply awful Yemmish Stilton Rowe twice fortified. You wouldn't rinse a horse's arse with that stuff...

"O' course we do," says Albert, as the company is passing through the kitchen en route to the cellar. "Best in these parts, oi moight add,".

Albert grabs a great chain of some dozen or so heads of garlic as hands it to Josiane in exchange for 2 silver coins.
"Thank you," says Josiane with some relief; "Mads, if you would be so kind..?"(She assumes he's still carrying the merchant's purse.)

She glances out of the nearest window. If there is still some time remaining before nightfall she'd like to take a quick look outside.

"Will you accompany me a moment, Percy?" she asks the marksman; "I will need your eyes..."

Mads II grudgingly parts with the 2 silver pennies.

There are no windows in the cellar, but Percy is happy enough to follow Josiane up the stair, into the common room, and then out the front door.

Outside the last dregs of dusk still linger... for now.

She herself looks to see if the inn is possessed of a barn, stables or anything similar. If so, does it look as if such a building could be held against attack?

Revelation takes hold as might a religious epiphony, and Gustave suddenly realises the cellar is his church. Holding back an urge to kneel before the racks of dusty bottles, he instead searches for a vintage appropriate to the occasion.

Once the coins have been split evenly among the company, Ulric extracts his massive book of spells from his satchel.

"I must prepare myself to sense the presence of magic among these items."

Before he secludes himself in a corner of the cellar, Ulric passes by Highbough.

"Highbough, perhaps in the next few days we may discuss our Arts and share some knowledge? I have a number of items from a former member of our company which we may both benefit from studying."

Once he has finished his study, Ulric prepares a large drink of water to consume after the spell has finished. He then concentrates on the items and speaks the words of The Exigent Secernment.

OOC: Just FYI, Ulric will want to spend a few days in Ket studying the various items he has collected and preparing new spells so he won't be too eager to run off on a new adventure immediately.

"And once we have our business finished, that's just what I want to do...get a good night's sleep." Olaf says with a grin, "A bath I can put off until tomorrow, more food or drink, the same, but a good night's sleep will be just the thing!"

"Ulric I will keep watch over your Secernment against over-friendly strangers," replies Highbough. He hands him the spear and nods.

"As to the other matter: While in Ket, we shall pool our resources, rent a desk at the library, and hire a scribe. Also at my age I need to retain the services of an attentive, well-educated young Man or Elf to assist with the rigors of my travel and research."

The Elf settles into a chair outside Ulric's cellar-nook. His cloak of night shrouds his face and hides the keen dagger balanced in his hand. He is a harmless old man dozing in a dark corner. He is invisible.

Olaf stretches and yawns, "Friends, if we are going to stay together, and with our gains, don't you think it advisable to rent rooms here in town that we can use as a headquarters? A safe place to rest and recover between our excursions into the wilds."

"It also occurs to me that we might be able to sell information concerning our travels." Olaf muses leaning back in his chair, "Perhaps a sage could draw up maps, true maps, of the places we explore. Merchants might well pay for information about villages we find, conditions along roads or up the river."

"We made a dent against that nest of thieves headed by Saxxon. That knowledge might be a commodity we could trade for cash. And then there were the goblin *soldiers*...not a gaggle of barbarians, but both foot and mounted troops lead by a Captain with some sense of tactics...and a Giant as part of their company, too! I'd like to know more about where they came from and who they answer to."

"And what are we going to do about those folks upstairs with their rabble rousing talk against the Snork?" Olaf asks, "That could get them hanged in this town, I fear.

"Then there's the Iron Maiden's story about the walking dead here in town...what do you make of that?"
