"This poor fellow is a prisoner!" exclaims Josiane at the sight of the manacle; "We should free him, surely?"

Her thoughts drift back to the pit under Grumolg's warehouse and the shackled captive she saw there. Could there be a connection between the two places?

Then she sees the grim expression on Dorgan's face.

"What troubles you, my friend?" she asks quietly.

Desmond wrinkles his nose and squints an eye.

"He stinks." Then he turns to Josiane and says, "Just because he's a prisoner, that doesn't mean he's being wronged... or our friend, for that matter!"

"I will attempt to forgo a rush to judgement if you will seek to do the same, friend Desmond," replies Josiane patiently.

O.O.C: Just to clarify - the "What troubles you, my friend?" was to Dorgan, not the prisoner. Josiane wants the perspective of her Dwarf friend on this before she reaches any conclusions.

Dorgan turns to walk back toward the door... and stops in his tracks. His nose wrinkles, as if smelling something sour.

He spins around and examines the sleeping dwarf more thoroughly. You see his mouth tighten and eyes narrow into slits.

"If'n he's a prisoner, it's fer good reason. He's a Guore! One a' them that's responsible fer forging the golem armor upstairs. And probably the ones that stole the Marrowstone!"

Dorgan stands there for a moment, deep in thought.

"We oughta wake 'em and find out what he knows, then carve out his own black heart 'n' be done wit' it."

"A gu-wore you say?" echoes Gustave, "Well he certainly has a distinctive...parfum about him that I have not detected in your good self", he adds with a stern nod toward Dorgan.

"I'll err...leave the resuscitating to you then eh?" he says as he wanders cautiously into the room to see what it holds besides a smelly gu-wore.

Slightly put out, Desmond replies, "I'm not rushing to judge anything, ma'am. I'm being cautious, something you've chided me for not doing in the past, as I recall. I see someone in chains, and I don't assume he is a 'poor fellow' what needs 'freeing' without even having exchanged one word with him."

He turns back to the prisoner and snaps, "Hey, you. Gore-y. Wake up! What's your story, then?"

OOC: I wasn't confused by your question to Dorgan.

Desmond/Mondes, Gustave and Highbough enter the small room... and it is quite crowded at that.

Desmond/Mondes address the sleeping Dwarf, alternately, but get no reply.

Highbough bends down over the manacle about the fellow's grubby ankle, and observes (besides theodorous, gnarled toe-nails) that the manacle is of a superior construction indeed, and there are a litany of tiny etching scrawled over the surface of the metal.

Gustave find the remainder of the room to be quite dull.

Olaf glances in the room and mutters, "It's best to let sleeping dwarfs lie, if you ask me." then turns back to keeping an eye on the corridor alert for dangers.

"You could try to slap him awake Mondes?" Ulric suggests from the hall. "Or perhaps just a face full of water would do it? But if we cannot wake him or move him we should leave him for now. There is more to explore here and the presence of a living prisoner beneath our house has renewed my interest."
