"Yeah, well..." Dougal mutters, offering Robur his spare wine skin and a pear, "Missing a meal would make any of us crabby as all get out. Welcome to the club!"

Robur is delighted with the wine and has a swig and tries the pear. "Thanks, that was delicious, Dougal," he says. "As for pancakes Bilfur, I'd love to try some, but right now I'm ready to go!"

"Yes, surely we're not going back for pancakes," Beppo said. "We just got here! Move on, so I can see more of this wondrous place!"

Spider Goat experience awards
OOC: It will make the math easier later, to award xp now, since it was the final encounter before Robur joined the party.
800xp splilt 8 ways = 100xp to Beppo, Bilfur, Dame Simonetta, Dougal, Kiplyn, Noh, Wilbur, and Willie.
In a break with standard procedure, all PCs get full xp for the encounter (not divided by their character level) because the Spider Goat was an "out of depths" monster.
New totals:
Beppo: 50/55
Bilfur: 1799
Dame Simonetta: 4700
Dougal: 6077
Kiplyn: 4608
Noh: 724
Wilbur: 4265
Willie: 2894/2894

Turns 8-9-10
The party leaves the Grand Chasm area and travels south, through the 'corkscrew' tunnel, and past area 9.
When our heroes reach area 10, they hear loud squeaking (hundreds of rats) to the south, but it sounds quiet to the east, so they take a peek. They discover a filthy cave (area 36) that has been thoroughly scavenged by the rat colony. There are
6 ordinary rats feasting on the corpse of a giant ant. As soon as the rats see the light from Dame Simonetta's lantern, they grab mouthfuls of food and scurry away, through the cracks!
Other than the half-eaten ant, there is nothing of interest in area 36. It doesn't seem like a safe place to linger. This area is unmistakably within the rats' foraging territory. (And it smells like, maybe, they use it as a toilet.)
OOC: The DM will not award any xp for killing individual rats, at this point. They are simply not a challenge, individually, to a strong party of 9 adventurers. They only pose a threat as a collective swarm, so if you want any xp, you have to find the lair and kill or drive off the whole colony.

During transit, Willie introduces himself: "Welcome to our Adventure Club, Robur! I'm Willie."
Once the rat situation is ascertained, Willie suggests they head south, through the corkscrew tunnel, and explore north of area 32.

Beppo deferred from introducing himself, for now, unsure of if introductions would go in order of seniority or not.
He did ask someone near him, though, about the side passages they were ignoring. "These lead to caves you've already explored?"

Kiplyn smiles at Robur, "glad to have you along, that was touch and go back there in the webs. I still feel a little shaken. My name is Kiplyn by the way."
