Yes, Maloof has moved closer to investigate but he doesn't attempt to touch it. Does it look dirty or clean (is it covered in dust, or does it look like it may have been moved/used recently?)
It doesn't look recently used, but it is not rusty or covered in cobwebs

Maloof is finished looking at the mace, he doesn't want to try picking it up as it looks way too heavy for him.

acodispo hasn't updated his map yet. In Room 9, the exits leading both east and west are 10' further north than they should be. If you then map the rest of what I described, you will see that the door you open leads 10', and ends at the door to the goblin & wolf room
