Yeah, now that we have to fight the things, I feel much better about it.

Would have felt better still if we didn't have to fight the things at all, but there you go.

With Thorgrim gone and many of the company members sorely wounded, I wonder what is to be gained by fighting the Owlbears?

I foresee bleak tidings indeed for my next posts...

I'd feel like a coward if I made the decision to abandon Dieter and the rest. But that's me--not Mads.

So, if you want to have Mads make a wisdom check for the situation and have him withdrawal from combat, I wouldn't fight it if he made it.

I made this when I thought Wulfric was going to kill me for sure:

Here lies Mads the Fair
Quick with the sword
Tongue lighter than air

Not as smart as he thought
Though courageous he fought
Slain by Wulfric at Saxxon's Lair

Maybe this is more fitting...

Here lies Mads the Fair
Quick with the sword
Tongue lighter than air

Not as smart as he thought
Though courageous he fought
Slain by an Owlbear
A stone's throw from Saxxon's Lair

They're both good.

Maybe not worth actually dying for, but good nonetheless.

Mads has common sense enough (wisdom 10) to see what is likely, which is why I offered my opinion. I'll leave it to you to decide what your PC will do. You can use a wisdom check to decide if you like (a 4+ on a d6 succeeds) and let us know the outcome ;D

We also collected 2 silver, 14 copper, and a brass ring from the two slain brigands. It's not much but it should help keep Boris happy.

Thanks Danhem, added to the treasure report.

My instinct is to kill or drive off the Owlbears and then haul our treasure back to town.

(Wouldn't it be funny if our characters forgot all about Nidhogg and just went away? Naturally, we're not going to do that. But I was just imagining the roleplaying if we did...)
