Once Franklin has had a listen at the 2nd south door, Wiglaff is still interested in the 1st south door.

Franklin whispers, "Everybody, I think I heard something! I'm not sure what it is. Another hydra?" He tries to imitate the sound as best he can, but quiet-like, so the party doesn't lose the element of surprise.
