The Infirmary

Seems to Dorgan, from where he stands that there must be a broad, shallow, puddle filling all the doorway and out into the passageway. He can just about catch the shimmer of when the angle of the dim light is just so. He doesn't remember walking thru it when he came in, a third-hour before... but maybe he just overlooked it in all the excitement?

Dorgan will poke his head out into the passageway and see if there's a source for this water...

Armando arches a brow at the reading of the letter; for it corroborates his own thoughts, and raises new questions.

For the moment, another tack presents itself. Armando turns to examine the facing walls, specifically the wall opposite both the nave and the entrance to the reliquary. Long months spent as a siege engineer have taught him, if nothing else, to identify weaknesses and oddities in fortified constructions — and that wall looks something queer ...

Armando approaches the northwest facet of the chamber and begins a closer inspection.

Gustave stifles a yawn as Josiane reads the letter with teary eye. Tell me something I dont know, he muses to himself, wishing again that there were a few flesh-and-blood maidens in distress about, rather than just the partially mumified remains of an old biddy.

He considers a quick nap on the stones, but a grumbling from his gut reminds him that the lack of maidens is accompanied by a lack of wine and food...and anyway, whats this Armando is gawking at?

Taking in all the events so far, Rufus will trundle in and examine the naves more closely. First the nun with the animals, checking there they are gazing, then the others for any concealed things or secret doors. There must be more to this place thinks Rufus...

As exploration recommences, Dieter will continue his vigilance. He will, however, spare a glance toward Josiane to see how she is holding up under the news from the letter.

Wen still holds his position on the stairs waiting for something to happen on either side. He is starting to get a bad feeling and would like to move on.....

Olaf, who has been nervously shifting from foot to foot, sees what Dorgan is doing and says, "What is it? What draws your attention to the door?"

The Infirmary

Dorgan moves up to the door and notes that there is more of it than he at first thought... unbarring the door, he risks a peek outside... his dwarvish eyes see well in the dark, but not well enough to see any obvious source of the dampness. He don't hear no dripping, or running water either.

Olaf, meanwhile, follows Dorgan's progress and spies suddenly a subtle steam rising around Dorgan's feet...!

At this point Dorgan looks down and sees that the horrible puddle has ebbed around his feet while he looked outward, and worse! It seems to be growing deeper around him and dissolving his boots!

Dorgan immediately jumps back into the room and examines his boots. If it looks like the acid is still dissolving them, he'll shake them off as quickly as possible.

"There's a puddle of acid outside and it's getting bigger. We may wanna get everyone outta here before it stops us from going topside. Wen, go warn the others, if'n ya don't mind."
