I don't use the board's notification feature myself, but let's see if we can gather some information about what is and isn't working.

First question: Has anybody ever received any notification from this board?

Not I, although, I don't think I've tried to use that feature at all.

I have in the past. I'm currently subscribed to several thread and haven't received notifications from any of them. I unsubscribed and re-subscribed yesterday and did not get any from the last round of posts.

I'm always one to suggest that the notifications is working fine and chances are the user just didn't visit the forum after receiving notification of a new post, but in this case I will admit it appears the notification function is not working.

I've even subscribed to the new thread and got nothing by its update.

Pretty strange I get emails from PM's no problems and the registration emails work fine but topics do not work. The phpBB was configured to use the built in mail function and it clearly works some of the time. I made a change to the email batch size setting it to 0 to see that changes anything.

Otherwise just got poke around the phpBB forums


Found a note to try deleting a lock file

-rw-rw-rw-. 1 apache apache 0 Sep 14 2013 queue.php.lock

I did this lets see if that was blocking since 2013

Personally, I've never thought much about it because I made it a habit to go to Immersive Ink to check for updates daily. Same with the other forum I use for PbP gaming.

Understandably, some people can't or won't do that and would prefer the notification e-mail. But that's my method.

This is strange, because usually software doesn't work for me when it works for everyone else.

Mike has kindly tweaked the mail settings on the board. We'll see if it behaves differently in the next few days.

Meanwhile: sully; can you please verify that mail form the board isn't getting filtered/sorted into another inbox? In theory I think you *should* have been getting mail from waysoftheearth at yahoo com au in the past. Also in theory, now I think you *should* be getting mail from waysoftheearth at immersive ink com instead.

I just started getting subscriber emails for posts in the OOC and Hobbet threads. I had not received them before now.

That's a good sign...I sent ways a PM to see if he got a notice also. I can send you one also since, "Australia", might not be online for a while.

I used to receive them. Now I am not. Will unsubscribe and resubscribe to see if anything's changed.

Checked my spam folder, no emails in there.
