Once the leading persons have continued into the passage way to the right and thus made room for Highbough to enter the intersection, he regards the wall mount for a torch with some suspicion. Then gives it a physical working over, tugging, twisting and pushing it in every which way.

However, it is firmly attached to the wall by three long bolts driven into the face of a solid rock. Moreover, rust and corrosion has seen it fastened implacably to the wall. It will not so much as budge, and no secret passage or subtle portal is revealed to the old Elf.

The right hand passage runs more or less parallel with the rear wall of the basement, and quite soon present another T intersection, again with an empty torch scone on the wall.
From here you can continue directly ahead, or turn perpendicular to the left. Only 10ft down this left turn there is a closed door, while the passage ahead continues on into the dark.

"I hear rumblings of displeasure from behind us", the last whispered behind his hand with smiling eyes.

Dorgan makes a point to examine the walls and ceilings as they progress. Any signs of holes that a centipede or other beastie could emerge from?
He's also actively looking for traps, secret doors, etc... so long as doing so doesn't slow him down so much that he becomes separated from the rest of the group.
OOC: I know looking for traps at the back end of the group is counter intuitive but it can't hurt, right?

Olaf is near the back of the group. He is watching behind as well as ahead...and up, down, left and right, too.
"This does need exploring, but I we came down here to clean out some bugs, not go on a lengthy exploration." Olaf whispers loudly, "I still think it would be best to block all this off and come back to it later."

"That would be me, Gustave." Olaf says with an edge to his voice, "Yes, there is much to explore here, but is it best to do it right now?"

OOC: Sorry, missed this dialog...
At the use of the descriptor "perspicacious", both
Desmond and
Mondes slowly shake their heads side-to-side in an obvious lack of understanding.
"Per... spi... KAY... shus?" Desmond asks, with hesitation.
In what might be considered comedic on stage in a vaudeville routine, but perhaps not so much in a dank secret basement under their house,
Desmond glances over at
Mondes and shrugs his left shoulder.
Mondes replies with a questioning look and shrugs his right shoulder back.
After another uncomfortably quiet moment,
Desmond motions to the door and they approach it and remove their helmets. Each applies an ear to the door to see if they can detect any sounds coming from within.

Highbough is the very image of a senile old Elf as he shuffles along, mumbling softly to himself and pulling on every torch "scone" the party passes.
