"Treasure?" Ulric asks. "We have all that we can carry for now and it will do our rotting corpses no good. We need to find a way out of here first and soon."

"We agree with Ulric," says Desmond. "Besides," he continues, "I've already got a load on my shoulders."

Despite Wibert's keen interest in further treasure hunting, it seems that the company is determined to head on.

Dieter leads the way, followed by Ulric and the others, and continues for a minute or two until another intersection is reached.

From here the company can turn left or right, or else proceed directly ahead where there stands are great stone archway carved over with the faces of gargoyles and demons. Beyond the archway a wide, stone stair descends deeper into the dark bowels of the earth...

"Yeah I guess you are right, we have all the treasure we can carry! But I would swap copper for gold any day. Hmmm U know, a good meal would be treasure enough right now down here, and few torches would be an good entre", says Wibert.
"I vote for going up and out of here back to Kent. If the right passway with the draft heads up I'm for it. No offence Mondes with the heads up but don't you think its was funny?"

Highbough's candle is bought fourth once more, and its tiny flame augured at the intersection.

Now the flame flickers to and fro in the stale eddies of dungeon air. There is an unnerving movement of air from the stairs that descend, almost as though the passage itself were inhaling and exhaling ever so slowly.

In the long pauses between these faint movements, the candle flame is wont to bend away from the passage to Ulric's left.

While they wait upon this intelligence, Ulric, Dieter and Highbough are feeling almost faint with hunger by now -- if they don't rest soon, they might well pass out on their feet.

As for the rest, only Desmond/Mondes feels replete. The others feel an empty gnawing in their bellies, but have no desire to eat anything; not even Wibert.
