Wibert does his talking, but then finds that Olaf is not nearby -- he is on lookout duty at the top of a rocky ridge, some 40 yards away. The exchange of arrows will have to wait until later.

With evening approaching, Wibert decides that if he wants to locate some herbs with which to cook he had best get a hurry on. This grassy hill-scape does not look overly abundant, so locating any useful herbs may take time.

The halfling trots off in the general direction of the gatehouse...

Ulric picks up the poke containing the coal and inspect it, muttering "Interesting."

He then puts Thorgrims food, waterskin, backpack, bedroll, torches and tinderbox into the groups pile of gear. He adds the contents of Thorgrim's purse to the intact chest.

"Now let's get this cart righted and repaired."

Andaros will respectfully leave Fix's weapon with him.

It seems like Andaros is going to borrow Mads hand ax again (though I still have Padrig's old spear, right Ways?).

Yes indeed.

Although the Elvish spear did once belong to Padrig, it is hardly "old". It is a fine specimen of a spear. The shaft is 5ft long, and straight, hard and light. It is constructed by Elvish arts from a white timber, unfamiliar to Andaros, that is graced by an ash coloured grain. The dagger point is graceful and broad -- designed as would be a double-edged sword blade and almost a foot in length. It is highly polished and deadly sharp.

Ulric examines Thorgrim's poke of coal. It is interesting indeed, but he won't want to carry any more if the company marches on, lest be be encumbered.

The cart is soon righted by a few of the strong fighting-Men, and although one of the timber sides is scarcely holding together, the flat base of it seems sound.

One of the hitching arms is broken off, but a cartwright or carpenter could surely set that right for a few silver shillings. In the meanwhile, the broken arm can be part of the baggage, and the cart could be pushed along more than towed. Steering it might be irksome, but not beyond the skills those present, surely?

Dieter uses his shovel to dig graves for Fix and Thorgrim in the rocky ground, which is not so easy as anyone would like. But within a quarter hour two shallow graves have been excavated.

Meanwhile Wibert hunts through the grasses in nearby gullies for anything that looks edible, and Olaf continues his vigil from the rocky perch.

Within another quarter hour Wibert returns with a few handfuls of green, and the rest of the company have buried the dead and collected all the scattered loot in the rickety cart.

There is probably two hours of daylight remaining before the shadows begin to lengthen toward dusk... and then night.

Highbough looks around for a hollow or overhang that will give protection from the elements; if none can be found he starts gathering brush to construct a one-Elf lean-to.
