Ulric spends some time in new room at study, carefully memorizing the incantations necessary for The Word of Anthracite Sufferance, The Effable Apperception, Ulric's Lyre of Inveiglement, and Ulric's Comburent Phlogiston.

Once his studies are complete, he investigate the layout of the manse and it's contents.

"Where are these servants that came with the house?" he asks the empty air.

OOC: Ulric will want to purchase a locking chest in which to store his unknown mysteries. Unless such an item is already in his room; or one is in the house that he can commandeer.

Very good.

The company members poke about their new abode, and although it is mostly bare, they are all chuffed to have a place to call home; albeit temporarily. Of the purported "staff" there is no sign.

In particular he is looking for any weeds with known medicinal properties, so that he may instruct the gardener to cultivate them.
The garden is not entirely "overgrown", but perhaps just somewhat "untidy". There is a nice gravel path which meanders a circuit around the grounds, which contain a dozen or so mature, leafy trees. The whole of the property is surrounded by an 8 or 9 foot stone wall, which has been neatly rendered with plaster. In all it is far too tame for Highbough'strue taste, but compared to the library it is positively serene.

(1d6=4) Alas there are no useful plants growing here... only a few decorative flowers along the edges of the path.

Where indeed?

Ulric locates a trunk that will fit his purpose in what was once presumably the servants' quarters (room 12). It has a latch which will fit a padlock, but no lock. He will need to purchase one of these...

Desmond/Mondes immediately pulls back the hood of his/their cloak once he enters the grounds of their new manse.

After a precursory examination, he finds himself drawn to Room #10 and thus examines it more closely to see if it would be suitable as a bedroom for him.

Being one of the smaller members of the party, it seems proper that he take one of the smaller rooms. Room #10 isn't the very smallest, but he prefers the morning sun to the afternoon one. And though he knows the northern exposure of Room #7 would provide him the most consistent light throughout the day, the room with the southern exposure is further from the loo.

Anyway, he takes some time to thoroughly examine the walls and floor of Room #10 before trying to determine what furniture might be available elsewhere in the house to put in it.

He is excited to have a room to call his own, having spent most of the last few months traveling the country and, more recently, running for his life through dungeons.

His walk complete, Highbough will settle in to one of the nicer private rooms. Maybe Room 8, overlooking the trees and near the library.

"You don't suppose the servants are in the dungeons do you?" he asks whoever is about.

"That thought had occurred to me, as well, Ulric." Desmond grabs Mads' Cold Iron Axe and continues, "Should we check?"
