It is the tail end of winter... come spring time there might be fruit upon these shrubby trees, but for now they are barren.

"Let us get a good distance from here down the river and set up camp aways from the this stream and rest the night. We can hunt at dusk and dawn for food and I will cook up a storm", says Wibert with a smile.

Along the way Wibert will look out for any roots, herbs, and mushrooms he can use for cooking. He will do this all the way to Ket.

Alas, the company are not headed to Kent.

It is Ket they strive for.

Wibert will keep an eye out for edibles along the way regardless... the ground here is hard and rocky with little plant life. But Wibert is hopeful that this might improve tomorrow.

With several miles behind you and dusk approaching, the company had best now find a place to camp...

Now that you pause to survey the land about, you see that two columns of smoke rise into the air, in the east, and the north-east... essentially behind you. It seems likely that these are two camp fires, probably 3 or 4 miles distant, lit for the evening.

Wibert seems inclined to camp a distance away from the water. Any other suggestions, while the light holds?

Wibert suggets, "Let us camp over here for the night, but since we are close to the keep we have fled from, let us have no fire tonight, but leave before drawn to make a good escape form this foul/rotten place."

"Agreed," Dieter says. "But some time tomorrow, we fish. Seems like the only way to find food in this desolate place."

"If we have no fire is *is* going to get cold tonight." Olaf says, "If we can find a hollow in these hillocks that should shield us from the worst of any wind that comes up tonight, and may keep in the warmth a bit better."

"And we better mount strong watches tonight. Those Snorks are only a few miles behind us and they move at night better than we do." Olaf adds, "And we *know* there are very dangerous wild animals in the area, too, so let us stay on guard at all times."

You spend the last light before dusk descends searching for a sheltered place to spend the night. There trees here abouts, what few there are, are wiry little things no thicker than a Man's arm. In the end you settle for a cramped little nook within a fist of boulders on the approach to the nearby canyon lands.

The air is already chill, and it will certainly get colder before dawn. But at least it isn't raining...

Who shall take the watches?
