On the Rooftop
Initiative is rolled (Olaf 1d6=1, Anwyn 1d6=2(+1), Ulric 1d6=2, Enemy 1d6=5)
Olaf already has an arrow on his bowstring, and smartly leans out to assail those at the front gate. Anwyn smiles happily as, at the same moment, she gracefully pulls another arrow from her quiver, sets it to her string and then leans out to fire again. Ulric has the fire of sorcery in his eyes as he too casts his gaze about search for the enemy, but by the time any of them searches for a target before the keep gate, they spy only the last heel of a booted foot as the enemy briskly retreats into the shelter of the gate arch.
In the Courtyard
Dieter bursts out of the tower door and charges the pair of Hobgoblins who have slinked into the courtyard, while the others remain in the tower.
(Initiative is rolled, Dieter 1d6=6(+1), Enemy 1d6=1) The big fighting-Man crashes into the Hobgoblins in a brutal rush before they can set their spears against him! He swings his gleaming sword in a fearsome stroke (1d20=17) and connects with all his formidable weight (2dd=6,6) for 13 hit-points -- shearing through spear, coif and scrawny neck in one guillotine stroke. The Hobgoblin's head lopes backward through the air in astonishment, while the decapitated body drops smitten under a splatter of hot, black blood.
The second fellow counter-attacks (1d20=3) meekly compared to the ferociousness of Dieter's charge. His stabbing spear is deflected on Dieter's shield, scarcely noticed by the big warrior.
Above the din of the fighting, you all hear the Captain roaring "Call to arms! Call to arms!" at the top of his prodigious lungs.
On the Hillside
Flewellen, (and Ulric, Olaf and Anwyn on the tower) -- Each now see the search party of three returning to keep at a flat run from the west. They can't be much more than a minute or two away at the most!
