Great to see we have at least seven players here :)

Still, we're certainly down from the heady days of fifteen all in one group!

A thing I've been considering is that the planned dungeon complex (the hobgoblin fortress, aka Hezmog) is unlikely to be a worthy challenge for a group that will, all in likelihood, comprise players of 5th-6th level, or possibly even higher. In effect, play has "passed the dungeon by".

From that perspective, the Hinterlands group have effectively "won" by outgrowing the original setting. On the otherhand, the setting itself has grown in different ways to accomodate them. However, if I ever want to write up Hinterlands and the Hezmog dungeon in order to get it "out there" for others, then perhaps I should focus on recruiting a fresh bunch of neophyte PCs to throw at it? Not sure what this means for the existing PCs who are forging a whole new destiny for themselves.

What do you guys think?

If you're asking us to roll up new characters so we can play TWO of them (in my case, Desmond/Mondes and a new 1st level character of some completely different disposition and possibly only one head), one in our continuation and one starting from scratch, then...

... I'm still 100% completely in.

Hmmm... I don't see any other options in your query. Did you maybe have something else in mind? If so, I'm not seeing it. ;)

I didn't have anything specific in mind; just fishing for ideas :)

I'd like to have the opportunity to at least have a stab at Hezmog, some time, albeit in part to help motivate me to get it into a more useable state so it can be shared with others.

The current batch of PCs are a great crew, but it sure is tricky that they are split across places where time flows differently. Dorgan (and Morgan, if he is still reading) are still in "Hinterlands time". It looks like Wen and Highbough might return to Hinterlands time "soon" (in PBP reckoning), at which point I will have to figure out what game time should have ellasped in Hinterlands during their trip-away. Dorgan and Morgan will possibly need to do some fast forwarding to enable Wen and Highbough to return "in sync" with them.

From there, it might well be years of Hinterlands time before the desert team returns! Of course, as the ref, I can easily "twist time" to make things line up... but even so it could be a "long while" of real time before the away team are even ready to come back, and by then they might all be superheroic. So, just scratching my head here, it might make sense to start out a fresh batch of Hinterlands PCs in the meanwhile :D

This is all just thinking out loud; I'm eager to listen to any other suggestions too of course; let's hear 'em folks...

:)

Ah Hezmog, Highbough knows it well. I'd be game to explore it as a 1st leveler.

Still here...if in absentee of sorts. I guess Gustave must be rather err...'mature' in hinterlands terms by now then....but there was an illegitimate son of his (ie first leveller) was there not? A past fling with that well known floosy the Dutchess of Knut following the famous party with the jabberwocky...I believe he called himself The Claude...

There he is!

*sigh*

I miss The Gustave and his pastry crumbs. So does Desmond.

Mondes? Not so much...

I prefer to have the dice dictate what I play, but if we were to start something afresh, I would want to go in a very different direction than Desmond, just to change things up - something with some arcane aspect to it, maybe. If the dice allow it, The Claude might chance upon a warlock named Fadir...

I can certainly understand wanting to get your original creation used. I think we are all generally willing to roll up a new set of 1st levels to help you with that.
