"Let some remain in the lobby to guard the exit," she whispers; "And to provide aid to Armando should he need it."
Yup,
Dieter is sticking close by.

He starts following Wen's lights. Once he gets to the intersection, he'll peer around the corner to see what awaits them.
Torben smirks.
"Very kind of you," he says dryly. He stops as
Desmond peers around the corner, perking up his ears.
((If the hallway is wide enough for two to walk abreast, Torben will do so, shield at the ready -- otherwise, second rank behind Desmond is fine.))
OOC: Certainly no offense meant, Verhaden. I thought WOTE had mentioned the hallway only being 5' wide or so, which is why Desmond suggested the above. Otherwise, he'd absolutely be fine with not being the only person in the front line. He's not nearly as brave as I want him to be.
Just wanted to play off of one of the Fighter bonuses, which is the ability to fight from the second rank with a spear.

((No offense taken. Torben's just being a smart-ass, as he would attack over Desmond/Mondes with his spear, single file, with permission or not. However, were the hallway wide enough for two, he would assume a front-rank position so as to not appear cowardly (but if it's single file, he'd certainly take the tactical advantage).
Still trying to 'find' the character.))

The Rooftops
Olaf uses the rope to climb the outer wall, and with none-too-little effort, reaches the rooftop behind the mysterious old Elf.
Meanwhile, Highbough glances about the abbey from his rooftop perch, looking primarily down into a large, enclosed vegetable garden that is surrounded on all sides by austere buildings and complete with a central pond.
The two primary structures appear to be a broad but otherwise plain chapel, and the tall, narrow bell tower. The other buildings, including the one he is perched upon, are rather unremarkable. They all have whitewashed stone walls and grey slate shingles over their pitched roofs. The stone work is age-pocked and festooned with lichen, and sports minor gargoyles at the roof apexes.
It's not exactly clear which building the front gate opens into, although it is possible to guess with reasonable accuracy -- somewhere beyond the chapel, approximately there...

The Lobby
(Torban, Dieter, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Ulric, Josiane, Gustave, Wen, Armando, Guntrum, Rufus)
Desmond/Mondes moves up to peers down both passages (simultaneously!) while discussing tactics with Torben. The passage is only wide enough for one fighting man to advance abrest, though two robed sisters could stride side by side, and two men could possibly set spears and hold a position side by side.
Wen the Elf follows after Desmond, dividing his candle host so that two flames dash down the Prioress's passage, while the other pair continue to illuminate the main, north-east passage.
Torben, Gustave, Dorgan, Josiane, Dieter and Rufus all follow closely after Desmond and Wen in the tight passage.
Armando watches the considerable crowd and clamour of the armoured company heading one way, and decides instead to take a look down the west passageway, quietly like...
Ulric and Guntrum remain in the lobby, for now.
(Torban, Dieter, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Ulric, Josiane, Gustave, Wen, Armando, Guntrum, and Rufus over to thread 47 please...)
