"To the left," Ulric says pointing in that direction with his torch, "and keep it down Mondes. There's all manner of beasts down here that would relish a two-headed halfling."
"We felt a draft earlier. It stand to reason that it came through an open corridor. Dieter, would you mind taking the lead?" Ulric asks the warrior. "I would not mind leading except that the only thing between my flesh and a spear point is my shirt."

"Who're you callin' noggin?" argues Mondes, but he does manage to keep it down to a mutter...
Meanwhile, up front, Dieter takes up the lead once more, and the company turns left and trudges on down the grim passageway.
Soon enough Dieter reaches a T intersection from where he can continue straight ahead -- toward the "cleaned" passageway -- or else turn to his right.
If he stands still for a moment, he can just about detect the rumoured draft upon his face. Just about. Or is it just wishful thinking?
What next?

Dieter turns to the right.
There's something unsettling about that 'cleaned' passage...

"Hang on a second Dieter," Ulric whispers. "Highbough. Do you still have that candle going? Pass it up here. Let's see if the flame can tell us which way that draft is coming from. Clear a space everyone."
Ulric will attempt to stand perfectly still in the intersection to see if the candle flame moves in any particular direction under the influence of a draft.

Brilliant! Highbough happily donates a candle for the experiment.

Highbough's candle is still burning steadily, and now he passes it up the column to where Ulric and Dieter stand in the intersection.
Ulric takes the tallow and holds it up before his own and Dieter's faces and they both stare intently at the hungry little flame...
It dances this way and that for a moment, before finally settling into a gentle lean toward Ulric. The jaunty candle flame tells that there is indeed a faint draft drifting toward the company out of the untrodden passage to Dieter's right.

"To the right it is then," Ulric says almost happily as he passes the candle back to Highbough. "Your instincts serve you well Dieter. We may get out of this yet."

By now Highbough has noted that there is another door -- half hidden by roots and creepers -- directly opposite that by which the company has entered this room.
"U know that fruit tree back there had a door on the other side, if you didn't touch the fruit we could probably get to it and find the treasure that must be hidden in side. Before we go too far shall we go back and have a look?", asked Wilbert.
