The three night watches pass without incident, as the campfire keeps the night's deepest chill at bay. By morning the fuel is spent and the company awake relatively refreshed.

The night's fast is broken as boots are pulled on and packs are shouldered. All too soon you are ready to set out. The Hinterlands foothills await.

OOC: Onward! I updated my memorized spells.

Although Wen did not take any of the watches he was up and active for several hours after sunset and for several hours before and after sunrise. This seems to be his favorite time of the day and would have wandered around the edge of the camp and beyond perhaps gathering fire wood or any other attainable supply.

Ulric rises from his bedroll, eats a little, then sits to study his spell book in preparation for the days efforts.

"I'd grown accustomed to my bed," he says absently while he eats. "Even if spending a night in our house in Ket seems just as safe as spending the night in the wilderness."

In addition to the three spells already committed to memory, Ulric memorizes The Word of Anthracite Sufferance and Ulric's Lyre of Inveiglement

OOC: Ways, did Ulric manage to learn a spell from the Abridged Tongues of the Underworld using The Effable Apperception?

OOC2: Edited to include memorized spells.

"Too soon, yet not soon enough, says I", Guntrum mutters. Shouldering his pack, he exhales, "sooner started is sooner finished." He shoulders his pack and heads to the front to scout ahead.

Josiane, (trying to banish memories of distinctly frabjous dreams), rises, attends to her morning devotions, sees to it that Murphy is fed and groomed, then eats a simple but welcome breakfast. Truth to tell, she is glad to be back on the road again, happy to be on a holy quest and happy too to put the dark shadows of Ket behind her, if only for a time.

She has commited to memory The Fiat Libation and The Supplication of Medicant Requite .

Olaf rises, rested, but still not feeling well..."Drat this curse, or whatever it is that has me down!" he mutters to no one in particular. Then sighing and begins he day. Olaf disappears into the brush for a few minutes to relieve himself. Returning to the camp site, he does a few calisthenics and buckles on his armor before munching on trail rations and sipping some fresh water from the stream. Olaf is careful to refill his water skin with the clear water and then helps Jos with the mule...if she isn't finished yet.

When the party is ready to move out he says, "The terrain is rougher here so I think we need to keep scouts out both ahead and behind looking for danger, but no one should get out of sight of the main party at any time."

"Two ahead and two behind?" he asks the group for assent, "I'll take point like yesterday if everyone agrees?"

Highbough is stiff from a night sleeping on the ground. He walks slowly and lags a bit behind the group, keeping an eye out to see if the group is followed/pursued. Though he appears to wander absent-mindedly, he never lets the others out of his sight.

Ulric has indeed defeated one of the unsolved mysteries in the great tomes he lugs about, and learned from it a new spell.

The Confabulation of Lucid Colloquy (II): Enables the magic-user to communicate lucidly with all intelligent, humanoid beings (but excluding aberrant monsters typically found on deep dungeon levels) in their native tongues. The spell lasts until sunrise, sunset, or the magic-user next rests (whichever comes sooner).
