This, this, and this.

I don't think there is any reason to bring all of the camp followers down into the ring room. The less they see of stuff like that and the Reliquary the better, IMO.

I say we put them to work with doing laundry and preparing dormitory rooms for sleep. Mush, do you still have that trammel spell for securing doors? If so, one end of the hallways has a door that could be secured that way. I don't recall if the other end does, as well, but there was a lot of rubble from the laser cyclops golem crushing the wall, so maybe Dorgan (with help from others) could fashion that into a wall to block off that end to secure it. Then anyone who is going to level can rest while all others stand guard.

I agree with this completely.

Not memorized today, alas.

But yes, put the pilgrims to work.

We can figure something else out, then. But I think the general idea has merit.

Flightcommander, if you're still active, Desmond already scavenged a bit of thin wire and brass pulleys from the crossbow traps near the front entrance. If Armando is interested, Desmond would like to get the rest of it, as well. Might come in handy to have trap-making material on-hand. We might even rig the door to the dorms with a crossbow or two.

Once the dorms are prepared, we could also have the camp followers clean out the large room that was the werewolf sleeping den. Lots of lice-infested hay that needs to be burned. They could carry it out to the courtyard to do so.

Might need to consider supplies (food and water) for so many people and use the scrying ball or Wen's tiny friends to start searching the countryside for sources; either natural or nearby farms that might be able to supply the abbey. Surely they had connections with local farms in the area for some things.

Dorgan is going to take point on putting the camp followers to work, if no one has any objections.

Maybe I get Desmond and Josiane with me, and the portal team gets Olaf and Dieter? Just a suggestion...

Everyone else can choose their own side?

Sounds good to me!

Highbough is Team Portal, naturally.

Not sure how important it is to be an elf for Team Portal. Dhren can be on that team, if more elves = better chances to get it right.

Otherwise, he can also be apart of getting the camp followers folks to get the work done (and help of course) and, importantly, take up a watch or even two watch periods so those folks needing rest for leveling may get it.

Not sure where his best position is... Can I get a bit of advice here, folks?

The other thing we can try is another attempt with the Crystal Ball by Highbough or Wen to see if we can get more info then Ulric or Josiane did.

The watch/leveling sleep is, I think, going to be handled separately after the other two issues are settled.

Not all elves need to be assigned Ring duty and not all people on Ring duty need to be elves. Feel free to post yourself where you feel you'll make the best contribution.

It sounds like a good plan people.

Regarding the Pilgrims:

The pilgrims are a group of ten normal women and a handful of normal men. They are the most stubborn, hardy, and zealous lot among the much larger group that set out from Maine some weeks ago.

They would likely respond positively to some religious leadership... i.e., Josiane or Helmut might be well positioned to issue "Churchy Orders" at them. They will also likely be suspicious of wizards, Elves, Dwarfs, Two-Headed-Halflings and so on. Hot baths, fresh clothes, fresh beds, good meals, prospects of some kind of "daily routine" etc. are all things that can improve their general disposition.

When Team Abbey is ready to issue the orders I will roll a reaction check to see how the pilgrims take it.

Regarding Sleep and Leveling Up:

I've been thinking about this a bit since the occupation of Ket, and now it becomes relevant since there are a few PCs present who could level up already. The criteria for leveling up is a) enough XP and b) an uninterrupted, full night's rest at the "town time" scale (where a player's turn covers a game day). So in order for our PCs to level up we need to "zoom out" to a broader scale for at least a game day (but probably several).

Because the abbey might not be "totally secure" as yet, I'd roll for an encounter check each night, and the outcome of this would determine whether the night's rest was "uninterrupted" or not. Meanwhile, during the day, you could get a bunch of work done clearing and establishing the abbey, scouting the surrounds, sending out messengers, using the cyrstal ball and so on...

I'm happy to shift to "town time", if that's what you to do, as soon as we have a plan sketched out for how to use the time...
