I'd support splitting up if we could possibly flank our enemy and besiege them on all sides as we reign death upon them.
Other than that, I'm fine being in the middle and rotating guys in and out of the front line when possible.

It would be pretty awesome to take the walls and towers, then flush whatever enemy remains out into the courtyard!

*shrug* just a thought.
I agree that splitting up has, historically, not always worked out so well.
Also want to make sure nobody dies of boredom, though...

Hmmm, well.
You have seen the majority of the upper works now. As in there are few rooms remaining that haven't yet been explored by someone in the party.
Also, other than Desmond, you've haven't spotted a soul (not sure that Shadows count!) since slaying the Tar Fiend... so who needs rounding up?

Has there been any thought given to The Gustave needing rescuing within a certain time?

Do we have any reason to believe that he hasn't been killed yet but is about to be killed?
That being said, I'm fine with skipping a rest and continuing to look for him.

As soon as the wounded are holed up someplace safe to rest and (metagame alert) we get some reinforcements, the healthy PCs should continue the search. We probably would have found him by now if the trap hadn't slowed us down and depleted our resources...

We're not that badly wounded, are we? Aside from taking a few HP falling down the pit, we're all doing pretty well, right?
Let's keep going. Dorgan will be fine.

Nope, nothing at all.
Just thinking if they've kept him alive for some reason, and we should assume he is alive because we didn't find his body at the bottom of the wall, that we've no idea what that reason is and I'm not sure taking a full 8 hour break would be in The Gustave's best interests.
But I'm just throwing ideas out for people to consider. Desmond isn't going to run off on his own again any time soon (as far as I know), so he will stick with the party vote.
