"Do you two have some sort of backstory we should know about?" Maloof asks. "Perhaps a lovers' tiff?"

"It's about power. That's all that's important"

I was trying to draw him out, but it doesn't seem to be working. If anyone else has any ideas feel free to speak up! Maybe if we can think of an excuse for us to start walking towards him without provoking an attack?

"Let's make a deal, surely the great Ozminster is not afraid to talk face-to-face?" Aldbane says.
I suppose we could entertain his terms, they are better than what Thoth was offering. If we want to attack him, about all Albane can do is try to cast light in the wizard's eyes, which may not even work, but if it did, it would at least delay him from casting any spells for that round.

Franklin blurts out: "So basically you and Thoth hate each other's guts? And it's a stalemate? We don't have beef with either of you. We're just treasure hunters. Talk to me about those three magic items you mentioned. What if we just buy the magic items off you, and nobody has to die?"
OOC: Hope nobody minds if I role-play Franklin's lawful alignment? We did an unambiguously 'good deed' by rescuing the charmed humans, but this feels like we are heading into morally 'gray' territory. Who are we to judge (Franklin would argue) which wizard deserves to live and which wizard deserves to die?

Aldbane nods his approval at Franklin's idea.

OOC: Let me put it this way. Franklin's hobbet sense of "fairness" is whispering, we should either walk away and not pick sides in this rivalry, or kill both wizards and take all their treasure. But killing one wizard at the other's bidding, feels like we are stooping to their level and rewarding bad behavior.
He's not opposed to fighting Ozminster and/or Thoth, but it wouldn't be for mercenary reasons; it would be because they're stupid ugly jerk-faced dungeon wizards, and Franklin would enjoy knocking them off their high horses.
But a wizard would be a tough fight for him, so he's not rushing into battle.

| DM: It is worth noting that you have not yet seen Ozminster, just heard his voice |
"No, I need his death"

| That sounds reasonable, and Aldbane is thinking the same way. He has also used his hold person spell today, so how about we retreat and explore the rest of the level? |

I'm fine with retreating for now, perhaps we can learn more about this feud as we explore.
