"the priests escape"?

Does Dieter currently have a foe to strike at or not?

(I'm a bit confused here -- honestly, Ways, I don't see how you can keep track of all this!)

Dieter and Dorgan were fighting four werewolves (? wolfmen? hairy men with big teeth?) immediately in front of them. There were two priests back by the large doors casting spells (presumably protection spells on the wolfmen/werewolves/hairy men with teeth and claws).

Dieter and Dorgan have, I believe, taken two of them down. But Dorgan is down to just 4hp, so he stepped back and Desmond jumped in.

Then apparently the priests saw the folly of their ways and have taken off, leaving us to contend with the two remaining hairy men with big teeth and claws/werewolves/wolfmen/wolvesman.

Hopefully his lack of a magic weapon (or magically enchanted weapon) isn't going to be Desmond's downfall here... *gulp*

Okay, that's what I wanted to know.

Dieter fights on. Those who know him can tell that he's good and angry right now.

"Oh, for Tamar's sake!" whispers Josiane, bewailing the stubborness of Heroes.

She makes ready to step forward and shield Dieter if he falls, hopefully allowing those behind to pull him clear and perhaps save his pig-headed life...

Wen would notice Desmond wading into battle looking a bit doubtful at his weapon and call out. "Fire, fire, if they don't bleed see if they burn". At best possible pace he would try to fumble out another torch ready to pass his up to be used as a weapon.

"Excellent!" cries Josiane; "Well thought, friend Wen!"

She will keep half-an-eye on the Elf to watch for fired torches, and be ready to pass them to needy hands should the need arise.

Yes, Dieter and Desmond/Mondes now stand toe to toe with the second rank of wolfmen. There were four of them to start, plus the two priests. Two wolfmen were slain, and now the other two carry the fight as the priests retreat.

The Blighted Passage
(Josiane, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Dieter and Wen)

{No morale check required, initiative is rolled 1d6; Dieter=1+1, Desmond/Mondes=4+1, Wolfmen=5. Wolfmen attack 1d20=6,11,16,18, Desmond/Mondes is hit once for 1d6=2 damage. Desmond/Mondes attacks simultaneously 1d20=17,20, but his blows are blunted. Dieter attacks 1d20=13,9 hits once for 1d6=6.}

Dorgan thankfully takes a swing from his hip flask and feels the hot spirit refreshing him {1d6=5} to the tune of 5 hit points.

Meanwhile Desmond/Mondes and Dieter continue the fighting against the fearless wolfmen. Desmond/Mondes strikes cunning and deadly blows, but alas his blade does them no hurt! In return he suffers hits worth 2 points. Dieter continues to hack and parry, and avoids further injury himself while delivering a resounding 5 hit points to this new foe.

Josiane, in the second rank, sheathes her sword and takes up Mads' Cold Iron Axe from Dorgan. There's no reason a templar shouldn't employ a battle-axe; 'tis a noble enough weapon designed for a righteous contest of arms.

Wen, meanwhile, fishes a torch out of his pack and sets about firing it...

{Dorgan has 9/19 hit points. Dieter has 7/18 hit points. Desmond/Mondes has 13/15 hit points.}
