Dorgan's not going anywhere without Gustave so he continues to fight the werewolf in front of him.

If Dieter can go round the Bell Tower on top of the wall, he'll go that way. He's looking for his comrades, because he still hears fighting even though he has sounded the retreat. (Sometimes people can't extract themselves; it happens.)
If he can't, he'll get as far as he can and then call out again.
(Either way, his silver blade will be of more use near the werewolves than alone on a distant wall.)

Barely standing, Beringar continues the life-or-death struggle, doing his utmost to defend himself with his spear.
"You fight like a puppy", he growls defiantly at his monstrous opponent after spitting out a couple of broken teeth.

Out in the orchard, Desmond/Mondes sees no immediate threat, so pulls out his whistle and blows a long, silent blast while Armando, Torben, Olaf and Ulric get their feet on the ground once more.
Up on the wall, Dieter scampers around the bell tower, keeping the structure between himself and the tar-fiend as he passes the ropes and his friends below. The wall behind him literally shakes as the tar fiend grasps the battlement in its massive fists and attempts to hauls itself onto the catwalk--resulting in a partial collapse of the wall section!
Ahead of Dieter now, Dorgan, Beringar, and Wen and Josiane are still engaged in combat versus werewolves. Dorgan at last lands a brutal axe blow (7 hit points), while Wen strikes down another (4 hit points) as it turns to face Josiane (believing itself invulnerable to Wen). Beringar prepares his final defense, but just before the death blow comes his opponent--and Dorgan's--freeze in place! From a gnarled apple tree in the orchard beyond, the bleak old crow Highbough has afflicted them with a sorcerous paralysis! Beringar is saved!
And at the last, Ulric's errant missile buries itself it Dorgan's opponent, piercing its black heart.

Initiative is Diced
1d6: players=6, werewolves=4, tar fiend=2.
Players
Desmond's whistle is audible to werewolves, but doesn't otherwise affect them as it does regular animals.
Josiane vs W1 d20=6 miss.
Wen vs W1 d20=13 @+2 (flank) hit, d6=4, slays it.
Dorgan vs W3 d20=20, 2d6=7.
Beringar gathers his final defense.
Highbough utters his hold person spell 1d4=3, saving throws (as 4th level fighters): 1d20=2,12,8 (need 14+) all three (including one dead) are held fast.
Ulric's last magic-missile vs W3 d20=16 hit, d6+1=3, slays it.
Werewolves
None can retaliate!
Tar Fiend
Has no line of sight, so moves to where Dieter was, partially crashing through the wall. |
What orders for next turn?

Dorgan will turn and look down into the courtyard, calling for Gustave.
"Gustave! Where are you?"

Wen eyes glow fierce as he slays the werewolf. He would turn a say "Well cast Josiane, now lets us get off this wall and away from that Beast.".
Wen looks for the quickest and safest way down to the orchard. (was there a rope? did I read that...)

::OOC -- Armando's rope is still looped around a whatsit on the roof; he is expecting to help others get down to the orchard, and is standing by.::

Beringar stands baffled for a moment as his opponent freezes up, but then quickly takes advantage of this fact and gives it a good shove (into the courtyard). Perhaps the fall will break it?
If there's still time after that, Beringar will get behind the Rock, spear at the ready.
"Dorgan", he shouts, where is Gustave? "Our friends are leaving!"

Ulric pulls back away from the wall and into the cover of the trees.
"We must prepare a defense in case those were-creatures come over the wall!" he says to the others. "I have two more spells that may be useful at a distance. If we're lucky we can draw our foes into the open where our numbers will be more effective."
"Failing that we should attack another part of the wall. Perhaps the gate? Dieter could leap over the wall and open it from the inside for the rest of us."
Ulric draws his silver dagger.
"Who needs a silvered weapon?"
OOC: How tall was the tar fiend?

Dieter rushes up to the other group, still on the wall. He casually shoves his sword through a frozen werewolf, then asks "What's this about Gustave?"
Please note: Dieter hasn't forgotten his grappling hook and loyal rope. He's had them forever and won't voluntarily leave without them.
