The pattern of runes upon the floor, now that the ash has been mostly removed from it, is revealed to be as if two intertwined serpents, in a great L shaped loop that spans both arms of the chamber. Along its length seem to be four 2ft square stones that are especially decorated, each somewhat differently. It appears to be one of these four which Dieter inadvertently stepped upon to trigger the conjuring...
Where's the connection between this place and the monastery where the Company currently resides?

Ways you are heading into serious Dwarf Fortress territory with that saga of the Ire Spear!

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining that Highbough has it, I've just always felt like maybe I got away with something. ;)

Now that the party is reunited (new folks excepted), what's the plan? Are we going to keep looking or rest for a while until Dieter and Dorgan recover?

I think we should keep pushing on, carefully, to look for Gustave. Just be aware that our fighting capability will be affected for a few hours until Dieter is ok, and for half a day until Dorgan is better.

WAYS - how is Dorgan affected by a STR of 3? Can he walk? Can he attack with a penalty?

I believe that was in one of the two gate houses, right? So...

Pretty far away.

Oookay; that was as close to horrible undeath as Josiane wants to be for a good long while!

Have to admit, I was reaching for the six-siders to roll up a new character for a while there..! :o

Josiane has a 13 strength. You would have had two, maybe three rounds, before really bad things started to happen.

Two to three rounds at 8/1 odds?

I fear the time would've just flown by... :D

I vote that the wounded hole up someplace fully defensible while the strong (aka Team Highbough, he'd like to think) take military control over the above-ground part of the Abbey: post a lookout in the bell-tower, have archers patrol the walls, seal off as best we can the dungeon levels and other danger-zones, etc.

Do any among us know a magic circle type of ritual that would ward against more demons rising up from the underlevels? Is it far-fetched to think Josiane could perform some sort of exorcism and resanctify the Chapel to her religion?

Highbough reckons that with Ket under snorkish control, there might be various heroes, wanderers, and refugees out there looking for a sanctuary. If we can keep the lights on (so to speak) then perhaps we can gather more forces to our cause. (Until WaysoftheEarth dreams up the next abbey-stomping Big Bad!)

After a meaningful rest (one turn) he will effectively be the same as any other character with 3-6 strength. That is, he will be able to carry up to 50 lb unencumbered (mail+shield+helm is 45 lb, axe is 5 lb, backpack is 30 lb), and will force doors only on a roll of 6. By the book, there is no direct combat disadvantage for low strength; it's all about what you can carry with you into combat.
